so my wiring for the thermometer is all jacked and i put new sensor in i need to run the wires so the gauge works which ones do i hook it to? there are no wire cables under the hood for it so how would i go about this please help.

Well the one in my cluster is broken at the moment so I bought a aftermarket sensor and gauge and just wondering where I would wire it so it doesn’t throw a code or anything. There’s a 12v power and a ground and not quite sure where I should splice the wire to.

And I believe there is one that actually registers the sensor to the ecu?

Mind you this is for a 98 eclipse gst

Thank you for your reply

If your car runs and drives, the ecu is seeing a functioning cts (to the ecu). It’s the two wire sensor on the thermostat housing.

As for power and ground for your aftermarket temp gauge, you can tap into any 12v source when the key is in the on position. I assume power and ground just for gauge?

This is one option

ESUPPORT 12V 24V Standard Add A Circuit Fuse Tap Piggy Back Blade Holder Plug Socket Car Pack of 10 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0146EBAE0/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_dxGdGbPDFRXFZ?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

I personally don’t like it but you can tap into the cigarette lighter. Ground it anywhere on the chassis.

And my car is not up and running yet I had to get all new wires for the thermostat which are attached to the sensor that I just installed I just ran the wires up under my dash near my new gauge pod just trying to see where to go from there. And sorry if I’m slow at this I’m very new to the whole dsm scene but I am loving it so far a lot of fun to work on.

Too late but if it’s a bad temp gauge on your cluster, I would’ve just bout another cluster and swap out the gauge. You can probably find a turbo cluster for under $100.

FYI the wires under the thermostat housing get real brittle from age plus heat cycles. Good idea to over those. They’re all for coolant temp sensors and front O2 sensor.

Here is two pics so you can better see what I’m working with as well the green and black wire is coming off the sensor goes all the way under dash to a clip that plugs into my new gauge. Yellow is 12v constant red is 12v ignition switch source orange im not gonna use it’s to dim the gauge when lights are on. And black is engine ground

You can run the red and orange together then. If it does need memory for something, you’d want to run the red to constant 12v or battery positive, and run the orange to the cigarette lighter +
