I know 8 pictures of a Clutch cover(AKA Pressure Plate), clutch disc and aluminium flywheel might be unusual for Primary Build introduction.
Presently those are all I could find on the car itself amongst all my pics saved?
I do plan on posting much better pictures of this car and all aspects of the PROBLEMS the MCC AST Program Students have found with eventual corrections.

IF ANYONE can IDENTIFY this FLYWHEEL by Brand name, that would be great!

All I can find is what you see in up close of bolt flange area w/ SFI info sticker, Numbers from sticker and MIT4 engraved. Ironically, I would have thought Brand name would have been al over it?
Do not seem to find pictures of this exact flywheel to help identify.

I have been in communication with David at SPEC, in Alabama, to go through these parts for Inspection/Repair/Adjustment.

Links of where to understand better SFI and MIT4 would be appreciated also.

I don't know for sure, but from my recollection there was only fidanza aluminum flywheels that were not sfi certified, act chromoly ones that were, and ebay china knock offs of the two. I also seem to recall that the sfi only certifies chromoly flywheels so if what you have is aluminum it's probably a chinese knock off.

Are you building for autocross or rallycross?

This car was set up for & being used for rallycross.
I am thinking build it for primarily Autocross, since that should create less abuse, even though suspension will be rather tight.

So even the chinese knockoffs have the SFI labeling?

Hmmm, I may be remembering things incorrectly. That SFI certification looks fairly legit. I would go out on a limb and say no knockoff flywheels actually have SFI certifications. It looks like aluminum is an acceptable material for SFI certification:

In that case I would say it most likely is a fidanza flywheel. I don't recall them having an SFI certified version but this amazon ad says they do, so perhaps I'm just getting old.

If you're looking to do an autocross build I would recommend picking a class and stripping all of the mods that aren't legal for that class first, then you can start getting into mods to go faster. For example a lightweight flywheel in SCCA will put you in street mod I believe which is a fairly heavily modified class ($$$). I would recommend starting out in street touring or street prepared.
 
I agree with you on the legit thinking. The engraving of the same SFI number alone is telling me that if/when the sticker falls off the certification # met is at least still there.

Thanks for the reminder of where to start class wise in autocross.

This car has stripped out interior, roll cage installed(Poorly), has had all emissions stripped off/out, different size rims/tires.
Considering what has been done to this car, It really would be better suited to Rallycross.
Maybe I should rethink what we do with this car??
 
NEEDED ITEMS!!
1) 92' OEM Exhaust manifold VERY, VERY Cracked, almost in two pieces...
2) We REALLY NEED an Exhaust Manifold.. Should we use a 2G EM??? and match ports for 14b???
3) Turbo bearing appears to have a lot of radial/axial/wobble....tearing down presently during Aut-181 engine performance and Aut-116 Engine Repair classes
4) Whos offers best overhaul kit for the money??
5) Pistons w/ valve contact...CAN'T decide whether to just ring them or buy new pistons...
6) Which brings up the next decision.....SHOULD I balance the engine....
7) Thinking a quality Machinist/balancer will be able to at least determine any issues with rods/crank/pistons....

Please feel free to:
1) advise on solutions...
2) question what you are seeing....
3) SUGGEST... parts, methods etc....
4) recommend from your experience...

I took a few shots of items and issues found on this car.
Hopefully most of you will recognize the issues at hand.
I will try to add additional video with collection of pictures as we go.
 
2-12-21 Been a couple of weeks since last update. The MCC AST Students have been slowly working on this PO's Hacked up DSM Rally-Car project. Every page turned, Turns up another new problem form either wear and tear or just plain ole' Bad workmanship, Quality of work, Lack of thinking, Lack of Common Sense or who knows, just lack of plain Brain Cells. I don't know, BUT, What I do know is when Things are not Correctly assembled or installed.

So I am posting just the findings for the Induction/Pressurized = Compressor Turbo side of Intake parts, the Exhaust System = Turbine side being turned by the Exhaust exiting the Very, Very Cracked manifold into the VERY VERY Cracked Turbine Housing for the 14b TDO5 Turbocharger of this 4G63T engine. Between the burnt away Wastegate valve seat, Cracked Turbine Housing, and nearly cracked in two pieces exhaust manifold, that must have been causing the 14b turbo, to not be as efficient as it should be. These issues might have indeed LITERALLY saved this engine from catastrophic failure. If the Timing Belt Idler bolt had not been falling out/off, causing the Valve timing to start jumping, thus colliding/bending all 16 Valve heads w/ the Piston tops while boost might have not been all there, I firmly believe it would have been a boat anchor!

Took :laser: computer apart :aha: hoping :pray: to find Programable e-prom...Well as you can see, NO :cry: Such Luck:sosad::toobad:But, I did find evidence WTF of past repairs/:heystupid: work had been done.
How good :confused: , Not Sure :hmm:.
