Hello all. I have shipped a GSX from states, poor condition, trying to restore it. The ECU, turbo, injectors, radiator, manifold have been ripped out, however everything else was in decent shape. I have bought EVO 3 16g turbo, evo4 injectors 510 cc and evo 4 GSR ECU for budget start up and some driving before building the engine. Does somebody have experience with similar setup? I'm working on IC now and vacuum lines, thinking about MBC and boost limits i should follow. I have walbro 255 pump installed as well. No AFPR. I think 14 psi should be safe before any further setup changes. Any advice?

What's the reason to run an EVO 4 ECU? The car didn't come with a DSM ECU?
You can probably do that. But the EVO 4 ECU is not PnP. The connectors are the same as 2G (I assume you have a 2G) but the pinout is different, so you would need some wiring work like the link below. There is a good write-up to refer. But you should know that the write-up is about USDM EVO 8 ECU on 2G DSM and there are differences between EVO 4 and EVO 8 pinout, also some pins that are related to emission control would be different between USDM and JDM ECU. These are what you need to figure out. If you are not that familiar with this kind of thing, I recommend to get/use a 2G turbo DSM ECU. That would probably save a lot of your time.

Thanks for advice!

The car came with no ECU installed, only ecm link CD on the floor :hmm:

I have had EVO 4 injectors and ECU since long ago as have got these in eBay auctions very cheap. I did the rewiring needed, found EVO 4 pinout chart and compared it to 2G ECU pinout, turned out that only one wire was required to reconnect. Basically pnp option...
I'm planning to use either EVO8 ECU either ecm link in the future.

I don't know what made you think only one wire is all, maybe was just to start the engine. Anyways it's gonna be more if you want to do it in a proper way. But it's not that difficult if you know what you are doing.

I have used this chart for comparison. EVO 4 Pinout was taken from EVO forum, therefore I suspect to be pretty precise with my statement :)

That EVO 4 ECU pinout should be correct, it's the same as the one I have. And I clearly see more than one difference.
