Stupid question... anyone familiar with or use the tial qr recirculating bov? I just realized the person I bought the car from mentioned everything started acting funny after switching bovs... I got to looking at the few videos showing this bov and feel like it’s installed wrong? There is base side... and a side port... along with the nipple. Which side should be going towards the turbo... going towards the intercooler.... seems like they are being mounted sideways while this one is sitting on the pipe up right. I’m lost

maybe the setup is not right at all... wrong piping and everything. I’d go back to stock if i was given all the pieces and the pipe to intercooler wasn’t cut open

So the blue path is going to the intake, this pipe leads in red down to the turbo and the yellow leads to the smic. I feel like it’s going all different directions

Thanks Vegas and Yeah I had both of those codes also. These are the notes I had on em.

Ground straps to exhaust

O2 beneath car on exhaust.... aftermarket cat or catless ?!

P0443

Evap purge valve

Beneath fog light driver side?

P1103

Turbo wastegate actuator malfunction? Wastegate located below turbo?

Maf sensor in Range but too high ?

Manual boost controller located below passenger headlight?

So the blue path is going to the intake, this pipe leads in red down to the turbo
No, it's not correct. You installed it improperly. That's not where you connect the BOV. You have to connect the blue line to a source where you see "intake manifold" pressure which must be is somewhere between the turbo compressor housing outlet and the intake manifold. Should get it from the intake manifold. Your BOV's port is always seeing only a little vacuum by turbo inlet. That's why your car is acting funny. Try to fix it and see if the car would be stable or not.

I thought the blue was the recirculation hose back to preturbo. Better pic would be nice

Yeah definitely we need a better pic. I though that OP was talking about the pressure source and looks like the blue line in the pic goes to a nipple on the intake pipe.

So the blue leads to the intake side port. The yellow is the pipe running to the smic and intake manifold.the red section starts at the side port leading to the turbo. Idk I’ve felt like the whole setup isn’t compatible since I got it

The bov sits vertically, on the pipe that runs from the intake manifold to the intercooler. The big port down on that pipe. Side port is running to the intake via a small curved, too tight a$$ hose.

Yeah I’m not sure. Dude literally told me the car ran great until doing the bov then it ran like crap when he changed it. At first I was like that doesn’t make sense but I’m new to the whole turbo thing literally, this is my first, and don’t understand the whole thing yet. It’s a recirculating bov... I’d assume the air is purged from the bottom? Of the bov and sent back to the intercooler maybe? But it seems weird to me that air comes in through the hks mushroom filter... out the side pipe to the intake but also sends air to the turbo itself? I don’t know if making it make sense or not but there is two paths the air would clash inside I’d think... air in from filter going down pipe to turbo but also coming up same pipe to intake manifold ...

Yes that's correct. And you have one more smaller diameter hose, to where did you connect it? If it's connected to some where you can take the intake manifold pressure like I mentioned above, then that's correct and most likely the BOV is not the one making your car acting funny unless it's leaking air.
If it's connected to the same intake pipe as the bigger hose, then that's wrong. The BOV would see vacuum and you may have a huge boost leak at that moment.
If you are not sure what we are talking about, upload a bigger resolution pic that allows us to see well.

I don’t think you understand what a bov does. Can you upload a video of what the car is doing? Sometimes people will lie to sell their car so take what they say with a grain of salt.

I probably don’t... Maybe I’m just over thinking it. I don’t understand the paths or order the air is taking I guess. Seems like things going in all different directions through the same piping the way previous owner had it.

I took it from not running, not even being able to turn the key over, to running rough, with no power or balls behind it, to now running better but jerking under load... I guess is the best way to describe it. Previous owner said it was boost spiking and kept stalling. Which I found to be the connection at the maf falling out. It won’t lock on tab no more. To me in had no power behind it. Like it was in limp or something. I found a injector unplugged among other things.

I literally haven’t had a whole day to check things out yet and figure out what all it has. I had to park in at my daughters moms in a drive way since it wasn’t running and didn’t have tags. I work long hours everyday and have only been able to mess with it hour or two here and there. The gas is old, he said it was sitting for a while before I bought it. But said it was doing it before he parked it. I would imagine the gas was new then. And yeah I bought the car assuming the worse and wanting to work on it but unfortunately haven’t had the time yet to get it in front of my house and don’t have a driveway or garage to dive into it.I’ll figure it out I guess. I figured this is the best place of any to get ideas, advice and knowledge from those that know these cars better then anyone.

The small port is connected to the small side port of the hks intake.
I am not so sure what you mean, but you mean the port in the green circle in the pic below is connected to that silver HKS intake pipe that is attached to the turbo, like the green line? If so, that's the one wrong that I mentioned above.

Yeah the small port of the bov is connected to the intake side port via that hose that’s kink’d and too small. But I seen that recirculating bov sends the access back to the turbo. I think what was confusing me is that the intercooler is to the side of the whole system but I’m assuming the piping runs from the turbo to the intercooler, then to the intake. Just seems like a crazy path from the center of engine bay back over the left side of the car. It’s all good I’ll figure it out. I would have went back to the stock bov and pipe if there wasn’t a gash cut into it and finding a oem seems kinda hard locally. Thanks everyone
