Hello, purchased my dream car today. A 98 gsx with a swap’d talon motor. Anyone know if changing a bov can cause the car to run for a second then cut off. Guy I bought it from said it seemed to happen after changing the stock bov to a tial bov. Haven’t got the car running or a few bugs worked out yet, so haven’t seen for myself what exactly it’s doing.

Well a BOV alone isn't going to cause the car to just stop running. At idle the BOV isn't even used, make sure the vacuum line is hooked up correctly and there should only be one line coming off the intake manifold that runs directly to it. There has to be something else going on with the car, what all has been done to it? Do you have any sort of tuning system or a way to grab logs? Was the engine from a different year or the engine exactly the same just from another 2g?

I was told it was from the same year talon. I’m still learning what all has been done. Just bought it this morning and was so in shock from everything I heard what I wanted I guess LOL

Once I get the ignition issue addressed I’ll get it started and see what happens I guess. New key won’t turn the car over so I have to get it taken care of first thanks tho

If your aftermarket bov is vented to atmosphere to make sounds and not recirculated back into the intake like the factory one and your on the stock ecu then it will cause stalling when coming down from a load to an idle such as coming up to a stop sign after accelerating.

If it does have link, you can tune around venting to atmosphere. Haven’t messed with that screen in a while but I can look next time I open up the laptop

Appreciate everyone’s help unfortunately with the whole ignition unlock issue , I haven’t got the car to my house just yet. Have to get it in neutral somehow.. but I’ll look into these things.

Update* got car in neutral, got car towed, got ignition issue addressed... able to start car. But not happy with current state. Runs like it’s flooded and lacks power, is best way to describe it

Ignition wasn’t fun at first but we basically sent the pin into the old lock tumbler with a mallet since the new key wouldn’t turn it to accessory. Basically the pin is like hardened steel and the tumbler is like aluminum or whatever, so banging it pushed it into the tumbler and out of the way to remove the old ignition parts out. Thankfully had a replacement

The picture is from under the center console... push the gold pin in and it allows the second circle on right, to flip up and stick in neutral
