Hey Everyone,

Little background about me real quick. I live in NY and just turned 40 and have been experiencing nostalgia. You see, when I was in my teens I owned multiple DSM's, and absolutely loved them, but had little experience fixing them, and little money to mod them correctly. I always promised my self one day I would do it right. Eventually, that day has come. I'm not a mechanic by no means, but I do have some experience that would put me above the novice level. Basically, what I'm trying to say is please be patient with me, and please point out anything you think I'm about to screw up....Ha.

On to the car...It's a1991 Eagle Talon TSi. The car was a weekend driver (hardly) that sat in the previous owners garage for over 14 years. He had grandiose plans like we all do when starting a project, but he never followed through. The owner lived in Indianapolis which made seeing it in person and testing it out almost impossible because of work and other obligations. I really had to trust this guy. Long story short, it worked out almost perfectly. There are little things here and there I'm noticing about the car, but overall I'm extremely happy to have pulled the trigger on this one.

If I can offer any perspective/advice to anyone looking to purchase one of these cars. They are becoming harder and harder to find which means tampering down you expectations a bit. While tampering down your expectations don't settle for shit and there is a lot of shit out there. Trust me. I went to see at least 7 or 8 of these cars with high expectations from the seller that the car is perfect...Total BS. They all "Need a Tune" , or Body has a gazillion miles, but the engine was just put in yesterday. Stay away from all that crap. If you find a original with high miles with little modification and genuinely want one of these cars. Just fork it up and buy it like I did. You won't regret it. At least I have not up to this point.

Welcome! I couldn’t agree more with your perspective on getting in this game. I’ve had to invest more than twice what I paid for my car, and still have a long list to go. Of course I wanted to do some wrenching on it, but have been a little overwhelmed at times on how deep the rabbit hole turns out to be. Really this forum has been the most important resource, other than my tools and credit card. I will say that the rather cramped nature of all the technology packed into these coupes makes it a challenge to work on, both mentally and physically. Don’t be shy on asking for help; someone has figured it out, and likely others have the same question, too.

Welcome! Looks like a good find and glad it all worked out. So you bought that car without looking at it? That is ballsy LOL

I appreciate the welcome and Thank you!

It definitely did take some guts on my part. If I did not build up the experience and knowledge from looking at the prior 7 or 8 other cars I don't think I would of done it. Also, if I did mention it prior the seller was a very straight and honest guy. He was able to answer all my questions and provide pictures and video to back up what he was saying.

This weekend I spent time installing a Greddy Turbo Timer. I had this Turbo Timer back in the day and wanted the same setup as before. I understand these are kind of pointless, but just thought it would be cool to have it. I even got the harness adapter to avoid chopping into the factory harness.

I followed this thread to assist with my install. HKS Type 1 U.S Spec Turbo Timer Install | DSMtuners
I removed the lower piece under the steering wheel and connected the harness and ground. That lower interior piece has some peeling issues that will address going forward.

I installed the Turbo Timer in the extra radio din. I had to cut out a hole in the back with the drill.

I did not take a picture of it, but I also connected the supplied wire to the emergency brake. The instructions are provided in the link above. The final product.
