Just wondering if anyone runs both? Was talking to one of the guys on my Facebook about the Forced Four and the benefits of using it and since I had one laying around that was shipped to me with my transmission, I figured I'd go ahead and throw it in the car. So today I just finished my panel for the switches for nitrous purge, nitrous power, Forced Four power, and Forced Four install to the plate (still have to wire it though). I have no tcu and using the blue wire mod, and figured since there's no power going to the transmission when in 3rd gear, I'd move the shifter to 3rd, power up the Forced Four when I'm about to hit the lights, and let it take over when going down the track since I can program the shifts and not be early/late on the shifting. Then use the ratchet shifter any other time and have a toggle switch to power the Forced Four on/off. Maybe put diodes in the wiring of the Forced Four so it's not fed any power when using the ratchet shifter. Thoughts on, well, my thoughts? Any other precautions anyone else can think of maybe?

Its been done, I have seen more than a few builds that use that same setup, maybe some searching will dig up some of the builds that use it.

Recommend you directly email Shawn over at ForcedFour to answer your technical questions.

We’re working on a 3G manumatic shifter conversion in our 2G, and am looking to get jekyll and hyde behaviors out of the shift box.

Shawn has been very helpful in exploring options and helping us set that up. PM if you need his email address.

It's working. Was pretty easy.

Red wire- to toggle switch and from toggle switch to blue wire at the harness (Kiggly blue wire mod)
Black wire-ground
White wire- Rpm signal (I believe that's pin 3 on a 2g but I still have to hook this part up)
Yellow wire- Solenoid A at the harness (tied in after the diode)
Brown wire- Solenoid B at the harness (tied in after the diode)
Rest of the wires are unused.

I tested the voltages at the wires and all is working as it should for each gear. Just haven't driven it around yet. Probably sometime this week.

Good time to ask that question actually.

So I'm taking the car to the track this Friday and I'll see how it does. I put in a new engine and had to fix some things on my transmission. It's always something but hopefully it'll stay together for awhile. There's a new firmware update so I did that. But prior to that I had taken it for a drive around the neighborhood for about a couple of miles and have one little issue I need to sort out.

So when I'm driving slow and it's in second gear, if I punch the throttle, it's going into first gear. Being that I'm on a Borg Warner S369, it doesn't have the spool of a 16g, so when it goes into 1st, it launches me forward and then backwards when the power hits. Kind of like doing a 1-2-1 shift at the track when trying to go 1-2-3- shift. So I'm sure it's in my settings somewhere but just unsure of what to change at the moment. There's not really a lot of documentation out there regarding how the maps work and where to set it so honestly, I have no clue. If that information was out there I'd be way more knowledgeable.

I was told to make sure my Speed and TPS is calibrated but I have no idea how to even do that on this shift box either. So until I get it all figured out (someday), I'm just coming to a stop to punch the throttle and shift where I'm wanting it to at wot and have no issues. I will say that if you're shifting at 9k like I am, you don't wanna set up the shifting in the programming at 9k because there's a delay. So I start low, go back and look at the log, and adjust at a few hundred rpm's or so unti it gets close to where I want it. As for stalling, I LOVE the 2nd gear stall up feature. It's soooooo easy. Just set the parameters I want, it stalls in 2nd, let off the brakes, and it goes back to 1st. Not a single complaint there. Not sure what else to say unless there's a specific question you need to know.

P.S. Oh, and I think I have another post regarding the Forced Four......I think. Since the beginning of this post, I have since upgraded to the Smart 150 which is a way nicer piece in every way. I never knew how many extra features I could have over the old box I had that only programmed the shifting rpm's and that was it. Didn't think I needed anymore than that but apparently I do. The one thing that sold me over all else though was being able to stall up in 2nd gear and just had to connect one wire to the brake switch and that was it for that to work. I honestly don't even really use the ratchet part of it anymore.

Man I’m actually off this Friday but the wife has plans for me or I’d meet you at the track in the edge. Alas. Glad you got it figured out for the most part.

Well I recently purchased an auto with a ratchet shifter installed. It doesn’t have the blue wire mod or the shift box yet and I’m trying to decide on what route to go. Can the ratchet shifter be treated like a regulator auto shifter if I also install the forced four? If so, I’ll keep the ratchet shifter. If not, I may replace it with a stock auto shifter. I don’t want to shift gears, I’d rather just put it in drive and go. Not looking to make over 500hp. Thanks for the response!

I had to build my own shift maps. I got my unit before they came with any.

I just shift it into 3rd (no power to the solenoids), turn on the shift box, and go. If I wanna use the ratchet shifter, I just turn off the box and shift to whatever gear manually.

Still on the 100.1 and it has the stall up feature. One thing ive been thinking about is running the feature on a switch.. my thinking is you could kind of use it to bump in if you need to with a quick release and press.

Just a thought

I like buttons ! ;)
