Well I sold the black 97 GST and picked up a 97 GST Spyder with only 100k miles on it. Super clean with original paint, new top, and interior looks like it’s never been sat on. So I’m really serious this time and want to build the car as a daily driver, here is a list of mods and what would be my next best option? I have right around $900 extra to spend right now

Current Mods
Evo3 16g turbo
Mishimoto intercooler with aluminum piping
NRG blow off valve
Walbro 255 fuel pump with aeromotive fuel pressure regulator and 750cc injectors
Turbo back 3 inch exhaust
ACT clutch
NGK spark plugs and wires
Short throw shifter
Manual boost controller
Black Box ECU with Tactrix ECUFlash
Toyo Proxes R888R Tires

If it runs well and drives right enjoy it for a little bit. If you don't have history put a new timing belt on it. That will eat some of that 900. As for the rest that depends on what you want the car to do. Sounds like it's already setup as a nice driver. Any more mods are up to you. Are you satisfied with power? Brakes? Handling? Comfort? Appearance?
Get a couple coats of wax on it and treat the leather if its that nice.
Most importantly get a plan. If you don't know what you want the car to do its difficult to plan further mods.

Lower that monster truck with a set of coilovers.
Haha, yea I was thinking about lowering it some. The black one I just sold was so low, I have a perfectly flat yard and it still dug the grass up. So I’m thinking about dropping it just a little.

The history I got, was dude was in the military and bought it 6 years ago when it only had 85k miles on it, and the title shows it as 85k 6 years ago. He was stationed around different places and slowly built it over the years and now his wife just had a baby so he didn’t have time for it anymore. Said oil was changed every 3k miles, trans fluid was changed every other oil change. All fluids was flushed and changed regularly. Has 4 brand new rotors and brakes on it. Brand new top, was garage kept the whole 6 years he had it. Cold ac and hot heat, absolutely everything works on it, even cruise control still works.

My plan is it’s going to be a daily to and from work, which is only 6 minute drive for me. Probably never going to see the track, as there isn’t any close enough that I feel like driving to, so mainly going to use it to mess with the stangs around here.

As far as driving, handling, braking, comfort it’s excellent. But it has the Toyo R888Rs on it, with it getting winter time I’m probably going to take them off and store them and instead of paying the shop to take the tires off the rims and put new ones on, been debating just buying a new set of rims with tires already on them, as I’ve found a ton on Facebook, but that’ll eat up the whole $900 for what I’m wanting.

If I were you, I would replace all timing components and instal a wideband AFR gauge.

All that was replaced, belts, hoses, fluids, bulbs it’s all new and it has AEM wideband gauge. I always forget a few things when I post. But yea, pretty much everything mechanical wise is brand new.

Looks like a nice car with good mods already. I would drive it how it is for now. See if there is anything in your setup you would like to change once you get some miles on it. Keep the $900 saved until then.

I wouldn't trust word of mouth unless you have receipts of the work done by a shop. Even then I'd inspect the work.

When I bought my 1g, the P.O said timing was recently done and when I did it anyway I found this.

oh no, I don’t trust anyone. They could meet me at the dealership and buy it brand new off the lot and hand me the keys and I still wouldn’t believe it was new unless I had someone check it out. But yea I’m 100% sure everything is good to go.

I agree with Paulyman. Just drive it. Mods that simply make the car breathe easier, like air filters, larger exhaust, IC tubing can be simple mods that will liven up the car without changing the reliability significantly. Bumping the boost, bigger injectors, bigger turbo etc. is going to eat into your reliability. I put north of 400K on DSM's and CSM's daily driving them. However, they were kept largely stock with the exception of mild mods (exhaust/air cleaner/etc) on a few of them. Given the age/mileage of the car, parts are going to start to fail. Example alternator. One of the biggest mistakes that drove me reworking on my cars, was installing used parts. Back then, like everyone, I was trying to save money. In the long run, it cost me more time and money. OEM alternator will run north of 100K miles. Usually more than 150K. That's pretty dam good. Why cheap out to put an autozone unit on that you know in X years you'll be replacing. Put another OEM unit on it. It's going to go another 100K plus miles again. I'd start setting aside a dsm fund that will allow you to do those higher mileage repairs as needed with OEM parts, like ball joints, tie rods, brakes, fuel pump, alternator, ECU (caps - though, probably fix that), etc. Might even suggest collecting some of the OEM parts before they are discontinued.

Also, I'd suggest drilling some strategic holes in the shock towers to allow you to get the inside of the towers misted with an oil undercoating like NH Oil. It'll keep them from rusting out and add an additional selling point come time you get rid of it, if you've done something to keep the rust at bay. The small holes you drill in there can be plugged with rubber body plugs and lightly silicone if desired.
