Ok my first post on this board, I am on gateway dsm and stlsr and now here. I was looking over the site forums and i am glad i found this place it has everything.

So i have had 3 DSM's and all of them have been budget jobs that have failed, with the fastest being a 13.8 at 98. so i decided that i was sick of wasting my money and i was going to spend some real money on a real car.

So i need some opinions on my new project so far if you dont mind.

1994 Eclipse GSX

pulled the engine first thing and started work.

First i pulled all of the ABS and replaced it with non ABS.

Next i bought a new gasket kit, all my engine's bearings, timing belt, water pump and a new timing belt tensioner from NAPA.

bought some stuff from slowboy racing including,

Eagle H beam rods
.030 over Ross Pistons
balance shaft removal kit

Also bought a Master Power T4, (70 A/R Compressor 68 A/R exhaust side with p trim wheel) Might spool up late but i think it will be ok.

Sent the block to a local machine shop and had the block bored .030 over, head surface milled, and all my balance shaft bearing's pressed in upside down.

I pulled the head apart and started porting it myself (so i felt one with the engine) looking in to some different cams, springs retainers and valves. (still have some shoping to do)

Planing on running high 20lbs on this motor, just wondering what suggestions you guys might have on injector sizing, ignition components, BOV, Wastegate sizing and anyother things i might need to make this a strong running car?

Sorry for the legnth but just hoping for some nice DSM people that are willing to share some knowledge.

Thanks, Justin

PS. looking in to DSM LINK but it is kind of intimidating (But i have alot of money to spend before i get to that point)

There is an excellent tool floating around somewhere I cant remember if the working version is on the site or I googled it but its the "injector calculator" and turbo calculator... its plug and play and allows you to input numbers and get direct proportional numbers. Search it Ive found it pretty handy in doing my homework on my project ;)

Very nice. What's the running tally of money spent so far?

Around $6500 in parts and machine work.

And i still have alot to go.

Fuel, Intercooler set up, BOV, Wastegate, Exhaust, Link, Some Suspension components, Tires, wideband.......etc..

Weak....

Here are some pics of my 4 Bolt swap. This came out of my red parts car (in the background)

^^ No sliders in V3 direct access...

OT- Nice build man!

wow looks great, no short cuts anywhere
What is your hp goal?
Have you thought about using jackal and ostrich for tuning instead of link? dsmap > sliders imo

Well I got to buy all the fuel stuff next, then I will start looking for Tuning software.

The only reason I would pick Link over anything else would be that local people around here know it well and could help me tune.

But yeah I am finally done with the long block after a very long time... but I can't see the light at the end of this tunnel just yet.

And my HP goal... Not really looking for a cretin number, just looking to have fun.

.

Yea that makes sense.

I'm a do it yourself kinda guy though and jackal was so easy to set up and get running. Some base maps were supplied in the forums to get it running and idling. I had no complaints and i consider myself a tuning newb.

I know what ya mean about the light at the end haha, my checklist seems to be growing as i check shit off it.

Thanks everybody for all the kind words.

I can't tell you how many times I have had money problems and thought about just selling my engine. Thanking about how much longer this project is going to take and how much more money I will need.

I just tell myself to quit being a #### and push through it. I don't care if I’m not done until the year 2020 I AM FINISHING THIS CAR!!! :hellyeah:

How goes the build? Any updates?

Had to pull the head on mine. The valve guides are toast, so im swapping to a 2g head. Also tossing in a set of cams and etc while im in there. How do you like the BC 280's?

No updates...

I won't have any opinions on the cams until I get the car running. And it might take a while longer.

Oh well I have been building it this long, what is a little longer..

Got bored yesterday so I pulled off my front end and started playing around with Front Mount Placement....

Need to cut up the bumper support but I think this will work..

So that 2020 thing actually worked out, the car runs

I switched to an HX40

Tuning with Link Engine Management (Not DSM Link)

A1000 fuel pump and Injector Dynamics 2000cc

I really need to make a full list of everything on the car as stuff has changed over time.

Ill add some new photos!!
