I think one thing, and key, is clear coating it @Evolving_sti. Good move on your part and was recommended by the man I bought mine from, but its been in its box all of its life, until soon.
Idk if they have much clear on them or any to begin with, care to share some info?

Vis and seibon products come clear coated . Im a weekly washer. I cant stand being in a dirty car or being seen in a dirty one. Im a big fan of chemicals guys I have 4 of their soaps depending on the goals for that wash. I use their blitz sealant twice a year and along with their instawax+. I use mequires spray wax on all my carbon fiber parts for those in between washes. My sti and DSM sit outside. So I cover them everyday with a car cover , so the sun doesn't sit there and destroy the paint. I also clean the engine bays once a year with various chemical guys products.

Tip #1 When planning out where to put your latches, the less slope on the hood, the better. On the Invader hood, IMO above the headlights would be good spots.

Tip#2 Cover the whole front area with painter's tape (prevent scratching and can mark your measurements). You can flip the latches and draw the outlines.

You will want to install the hood pins first before cutting the hood!

When you are ready, measure 3 times and cut once. Take a deep breath and may God be with your hands haha!

My hood has the original clearcoat that Carbonetics makes them with. I had asked Sergio what kind of coating they use in case I ever needed to repair.

Your car is so clean and beautiful.
I will need to put my "carbon fiber key lock hood pins" in and I'm sure the other's will need them too.
Can you give any hints/tips/tricks or video to help us out on those tricky cuts into a badass hood?.AND...was it re-gelcoated for you not part of the original hood???
Thanks for any help!
Marty

Right on man! That's going to look so good.
You know, I think we live in the same part of town.

It would be cool to get together sometime and DSM it up!

I ordered from Mobb Motorsports. They emailed me back, acknowledged the car was wrong and sent me accurate pictures. Good on them.

Vivid Racing on the other hand, emailed me back, told me the car was an Eclipse with a body kit, said they had no other pictures, and signed my email up for both their spam newsletter and 2 others, so yeah, fvck those guys loI

Definitely! I'm going to want to pick your brain on 2g suspension stuff when I get around to my Talon. Eventually I want to do some time attack and track days with my cars. I also usually hit the Nationwide meetup every Sunday night. Not right now due to having a new baby, but I'll be getting out again in a few months. :thumb:

That's something to look forward to for sure! I could use a DSM buddy to drag along to High Plains Raceway for HPDE. :D

Congrats on the new baby! My wife and I have been thinking/planning a sibling for our little girl (mmmaybe next year). Right now is definitely the time to stay home for a while.

Yay for new friends!

So I just HAD to dig my hood out and see how it fit and looked. It has more of a hood "scoop" in it than I thought. It is taller than one would think.
Pictures as promised.
