I bought my car about a year ago and it is a 7-bolt 1993 Eagle Talon Tsi Awd 5spd I purchased last year with 66k miles and 100% stock including the original crappy CD player. It has only been driven 4K miles in 16 years, so I am going through it mechanically first before I address a few small exterior and interior issues.

I’m currently changing the Valve Cover Gasket (w/ the 1/2 moon and plug hole gaskets) from felpro, new spark plugs and wires, new pcv valve, new fuel filter.

Already put in new air filter, which was a Biatch, ran BG engine clean to clear out the left over shit from sitting, and fresh oil change with shell rotella T6 5w 40 syn, because my old Evo ix loved that shit.
I’ve put 500 miles on it since the BG clean and changing out the fluid and filter again to make sure it got it all out. also going to put in BG advanced MOA with this oil.

What else does anyone recommend or have comments on? My timing belt looks fine, I might try a belt conditioner, but plan on changing it in the next year at least, it was changed in 2004 @ 62k miles. I Still need to change fluids for tranny, diffs, t-case, radiator flush, brake flush, Power steering flush.
I’m concerned about the recall for the 1g’s and the transfer case loosing all oil. How can I check to see if mine was done? Does the fix look different from the original?

- TransferCase and Rear Diff I am planning on redline light/heavy shockproof from the threads.
- Tranny will be either Redline MT-90/mt-85, or royal purple for yellow metals???, or gm synchromesh(which I have left over from a 2002 manual zr2 I sold)

any other suggestions?

Sounds like you have it all covered for the most part!
I might have missed it but fuel filter would be on my list. You should be able to get away with the lightweight shockproof from what I’ve been reading In the tcase and rear diff. I’d stick with redline or diaqueen In the trans. Good old boost leak test never hurts, then just enjoy it! Good to see these older cars being taken care of!

Oh and more importantly fuel! How is the condition of the tank? That would be my main concern with age and low miles!

Do NOT wait on that timing belt. It is old and needs to go. Age is just as bad as mileage.

ANY-TIME YOU BUY A USED CAR, DO TIMING!!

Ok, back to your regularly scheduled program.

It seems like you got the main things covered.
Also, inspect the bushings, driveshaft carrier bearings, etc. These are old cars, and need to be inspected thoroughly.

+500 on the tbelt first. Also check the crank pulley, if it looks old, original or even questionable, change that too. Mine looked fine but came apart one hot day in traffic. Jumped timing and water pump/alternator belt came off. Luckily no engine damage. It jumped timing because when the pulley came apart, it rubbed on the lower timing cover then the melted plastic piece got under the tbelt. Casualties were brand new tbelt & balancer belt, lower timing cover and a bruised ego.

More than the belt, the belt dampener is prone to old age damage/leakage, go to your local dealership and have them run the vin for open recalls, thats the best way to find out whats what on recalls.
