So my stupidity continues despite what I tell my customers... What is the saying ? Practice what you preach.... How often do you guys check for boost leaks? I can’t confirm when the leak started but I found a massive leak on one of my secondary rail welds. A part of me thinks a poor weld got worse when I had the nitrous backfire that nearly exploded my manifold. I welded this before I was proficient at welding aluminum so ... The manifold is ballooned on the backside but didn’t crack so I’m going to keep using it. I made a welding jig that I can also boost leak test on so I can test it off the car. This probably explain my issues with stalling late and idle issues....

They must be done on the regular. I have a 774whp Evo in my possession that I’ve been working on because the previous 2 shops(both of which went under or sold out) screwed my friend. It made that power with all of the boost leaks. The IAT was legitimately handtight. The nipple off of the turbo, leaking. Injector seals, leaking. It still has stalling and idle issues but I’ve all but fixed the laundry list of terrible workmanship on it and I know the tune is completely off at this point.

When I was going to the road course several times per year I'd try to do one before each event. Definitely after any work where parts of the pressurized system were touched. It's easy to get a little lax though.
