Hello fellow DSM Tuners,

My name is Chris. I live in California, And I own a 1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse GST. My mom bought it way back in 2004 for me as a gift. (I was 24 yrs old at this time) I wished it was a GSX but that's ok. Needless to say I was excited. It had a cracked radiator that I JB welded to get me home from LA where I purchased it. I immediately started doing maintenance on it. New belts, oil coolant, thermostat, new Koyo 4 Core Radiator, and alot more. After that I started with your basic bolt-ons: intake, exhaust, DP, but said "screw it lets build the motor" (7 bolt).

Ever since I got this car, I have been bit by the DSM bug, it has never went away. I started working on the car, installing what I could, learning the car, studying the car. Hitting the forums back in the day when I bought it. It was on the forums that I first heard all about the infamous "CrankWalk" for the 7 bolt motors so I decided to do everything I could to stop that and or prevent it. Balance shafts removed, replaced the throw out bearing, Etc. Fast forward. I had the engine rebuilt: Eagle Rods, Ross pistons, everything balanced and blue printed, ARP head bolts 4 layer head gasket, Fidanza Flywheel, Act 2600 Clutch, SS lines, Walbro 255 Fuel Pump, AFC2, 680 injectors, etc.

Went to get it tuned at GT Motorsports, in Rancho Cucamonga and supposedly it Crank Walked on the Dyno. That's what the shop told me. And George, the owner was the one dynoing the car. As I came in the shop for further inspection they already had part of the motor disassembled to show me I guess the Crankwalk. Totally pissed that my new motor is screwed, and thousands of dollars down the drain. I was back to Square one. So this time I did more research and found I could do the 6 bolt swap (should have done this 1st, would have saved me a ton of money). Only place close enough to my house and who knew how to do the 6 bolt swap was a shop called "KarKing" (another huge mistake). Another $2200 bucks to remove my engine and put a 6 bolt in. I had nothing but problems with this company and my car. The first 2 motors where screwed. Motor #1- broke down immediately after leaving the driveway . #2 motor was messed up. Did a compression test and all cylinders where off and low. Now on my 3rd motor. This one was better. This company robbed me by taking some of my internal parts, my flywheel, etc. Again, another dude named George.

After this, I took it to another shop called R Rated Motorsports there they found tons of botched and shotty work. I replaced everything, had the shop redo my ECU and fixed alot of issues. No more check engine lights, new oil pan, etc. I cant stand half assed work. Here in California some shops will just screw you over.

Fast forwarding yet again, (Now 40 yrs old) the car sat for 2 years in the driveway. As I was completely tapped for cash. Now I am in a better spot and started to work on this car again. The pictures on my profile is what it used to look like. Now it needs new paint and I need to drain all the fluids, and back on the maintenance train. So this is where it sits currently.

Coming back from being away from the DSM Scene for so long. I have forgotten alot and need to re-educate myself to this car. Especially the 6 bolt swap parts, because I used to be on Team-2g.com and other forums, but that's shut down. Some of my favorite shops are done and gone like Slowboy racing, DsmSource.com, Dataloggers.com, the vfaq.com, etc. Crazy how much has changed since then. Well I am so glade to be back. Just working on my car again has brought back so many memories (Good and bad LOL). But I am happy. At least before I parked the car I bought a new turbo. So I get to look forward for that. (FP TD06S)

Shout out to @Ludachris from Dsmtuners.com for holding strong for so many years. I plan on making this my new home and to get acquainted with you my fellow DSM tuners.

Shout out to all you free Lancers that are actually making parts for us 1g/2g guys. This is probably one of the most exciting things to see. I applaud every single one of you. These cars could be so much more if people would make more parts for them. Kiggly is a new name for me. Happy to see new parts here as well.

Glade to be here guys. Here is the car. https://www.dsmtuners.com/dsm-profiles/member/eclipse5150x.172593/

Greeting from Cali. Always good to see more Cali people here. Ya, I hear you on the shops. I'm just not a mechanic. I really wish I knew how to rebuild motors etc. But yes, for the most part I do everything myself. I am going to probably buy the ECMLink as I would love to tune my own ride. I'm kind of done letting others do stuff. Sure wish I had a group of boys back in the day wrenching on the ride. I miss those days. Thanks for the response.
