Hey guys,

Apologies if this is a noob question but I searched and couldn’t find a direct answer on the site. Could someone please tell me what the hose circled on the attached picture is? When I shut off my car I heard sizzling and saw what looked like water spewing out at the end of this hose onto the turbo manifold end.

Would you suggest I get a new hose (if so would you happen to know where I could get one) or if I may just need new clamps.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Here is a video clip to show a better visual of how it was spewing out.

Oh wow, she sure is sizzlin'!

Seriously though, let's fix this. Firstly do you have a way to monitor your coolant temps? If so, are they within the normal range while driving and idling? I see you're in Vegas so you might be more on the hotter side, but it should still be between 200-206F. Let the car completely cool off. Check if both clamps are on tight and if the hose is slid over the water line as far as possible. The fact that there are two clamps on that hose means it's an old problem. It's possible the line is so corroded that the hose can't seal around it. OR the hose itself is bad.

If that doesn't fix it, you're gonna have to continue investigating. Place a clean pan under the radiator petcock (or you can use a clean bottle if you can fit it under). Open the petcock carefully and drain some coolant. You can open the radiator cap too so it drains a bit faster. Drain maybe 2-3 liters then close the petcock. Now you can remove the clamps and slide the hose off without leaking coolant everywhere. Inspect the hose and the end of the coolant line. If the hose looks chewed on the inside or if it's the wrong type of hose, replace it and buy a new better, wider hose clamp. Clean up the coolant line end with some sandpaper or scotchbrite if needed. Reinstall the hose, open the radiator cap and pour the coolant you drained.

If you have a needle nose vice grip, put a hose on both jaws and use that on the hose. Not overly tight to where you damage the hose but enough so you don't lose too much coolant. This way you won't have to drain the coolant. Don't think the spring clamp is working so I'd remove that and just use the worm clamp. Like Stefan said, inspect the hose and the metal line. If the line is split, you can try cutting off the worn/torn end.

I do have DSM link so I should be able to monitor my coolant temps through there. I will attempt To troubleshoot with your guys’ advice and will post back when I have completed all of the troubleshooting steps given. Do you happen to know if there is an oem hose or certain hose to replace that just incase that is the issue? Maybe sell it on STMtuned? Thank you guys for all of the help!

Just go to your local auto parts store and tell them you need a couple feet of 3/8" coolant hose, I am assuming that its 3/8" if its not then you can take it off and take it with you to compare it when you buy new hose.

I would try moving the clamps a bit and tightening to see if the leak stops. If not, the end might be a bit rotted or split, if you have slack, cut off a bit from the and re-attach with the clamps. While you are at it, inspect the area the hose attaches to for cracks or damage. The best solution is to remove the hose, inspect the area where it attaches, if no problems, get a segment of hose from the local Auto Store and replace it with new hose and clamps.

Rent a cooling system pressure tester kit from an autoparts store and pressurize the system while the car is cold and the engine is off to find the coolant leak without burning yourself

To me it looks like the aftermarket turbo is too close to that block side coolant feed and has melted the hose. It could also be the coolant feed fitting to the turbo is leaking

Remove the manifold heat blanket and inspect that area for leaks or white residue indicating coolant leak

I had an eBay 16g that came on a car that had banjo bolts which were too long and never sealed to the coolant feed line and would cause the same bubbling noise

Sorry for the late update! So I bought a new hose and worm clamps from Autozone. Haven’t started her up yet. I wanted to double check if you guys thought this kink in the hose is okay before I started the car and drive around to test.

The old hose didn’t look too thrashed but had like a perfect 90 degree bend in it without a kink and stayed like that when I removed it.

I also replaced radiator cap just in case. When I took off the old radiator cap I looked in the inside and the inside piping was rusted color all over..not sure if it that is normal.

I would not run this on my car. When I had to replace this hose the counter clerk let me go behind the counter & I found a pre-molded hose with the correct diameter & had a section that was 90º in the middle. I cut both ends to get the section out & installed it. This was several years ago & all is still good.

You need a molded hose or make a loop in a longer piece of hose. Think 3 turns instead of 1. I did this years ago in a pinch. What you have will not work.
