Holy crap... I haven't seen one of these in almost 20 years...

Update:
A few months ago I broke a timing belt and bent all the valves. Since this engine has 200k on it I'm going to redo the short block. Every took about a day to get to get the short block out. I don't have an engine hoist so it took a bit longer.
Once I put the engine on the engine stand. I felt to see if there was any play in the bearings and everything felt good. I checked the oil pump and there is a lot of play in the rotational direction. Going to have to pull that apart and see what that is hiding.
Time to pull it apart and do some investigation. The engine had a vibration over 4k RPM. that might have been the oil pump but lets look at the bearings.

All the piston bearing look gook good. only one with a light grove I can feel by hand. But look at bearing #1. That doesn't look good.

Well looking at it it looks bad. I ran my fingernail over it and do not feel any groves. I might be able to polish it out. Going to measure everything out once my tools come in to measure everything. The pistons are caked in carbon build up. The oil rings are completely compressed. Going to try to clean the pistons so I can reuse them if all my cylinder bore measurements are good.
This is a factory rebuild since I'm keeping the car N/A. I will do the best I can to build it a little better to get a little more out of it.

Wise idea to tear the bottom end apart. Hopefully the crank will polish out for you. Definitely get a quality bearing. Can't wait to watch this build come together.
