Hello everyone. Thank you in advance for your help. I’m trying to figure out how much a 98 Mitsubishi GST is worth these days. Now I know people will say it’s worth what someone will pay for it, but I’m finding a huge range out there. Here’s the situation. The GST was in excellent condition when it was parked approximately 15 years ago. It was a daily driver, all original, with approximately 130k miles. Its been sitting under a car cover since, so it’s still in pretty good condition. It was only parked because the owner bought a new car and didn’t want to sell it. It's been sitting on a concrete driveway, the tires are flat, the interior is still good, and the paint is still nice. Only problem I see currently is the passenger airbag cover is curled up due to heat in the car over the years. It’s grey with the grey cloth interior and a manual transmission. What is something like this approximately worth?

Agree with 1k...most people don't want to spend more than that on something doesn't run and has been sitting too long. Fix the tires, check brakes, replace the battery, oil and filter change, coolant change, drain the gas in the tank and change the fuel filter,, check all vacuum and coolant hoses, change the belts, spark plugs, air filter, replace any sensors or other necessary items, save the receipts, make a list of parts replaced and services done, get it running good and it may sell for $3k to the right buyer if your lucky.

Ok guys new to site wat is 98 eclipse gst spyder worth 2 owners 50k original miles I mean everything on car is absolutely immaculate

Thank you for all the replies. I will try and get back over to their house and dig into it a bit more. I will snap some detailed photos too. It was a one owner car, clean title, and it was parked over a concrete driveway. He has all the documentation for every service, so I will try and go through the paperwork to see what was done prior to it being parked. It was not fogged prior to parking, so it has the old gas and fluids in it. The tires were apparently new when it was parked, so it was definitely taken care of at the time. It’s a manual transmission, and he believes the timing belt was replaced prior to it being parked years ago. I will check the service records to make sure. Looking at it, I don’t think it will be too much work to get it started, we will see. Thanks again for the help.

Around these parts you cant even pick up a rusted shell for $1k man, that car would fetch like 5-6k here if it was running with minor problems and minor rust, not running it would still get $3k if its clean.

Originally the guy who had my 2g 1995 GSX for sale listed it at 3k. Time went on and he couldn’t sell it.
I got it for 1k with a spare head, 6 bolt block, etc.

I needed to change oil, run brake lines to the rear (both lines), change alternator, master cylinder (brake and clutch), change an axle, change a bad caliper, and a bunch of other things I forgot. Wasn’t super expensive, but took time. What’s your time worth?

All things considered, would you rather buy a running car or out time and money into a car and buy it for less? I chose the latter. You can find examples of both, although it’s getting more difficult.

Man I'll drive my car from CA for $6k :)

I just purchased mine. 1 owner 96 GSX with 85k original miles in California. New parts throughout, and very clean body. I paid 7k for it, which I feel was a lot, but didn't think I'd find one in that condition again. So like you said, whatever someone would pay. I've wanted one since 2002 so it was more of a unicorn to me.

need some opinions. 1998 GS-T: hardtop, 129K miles, 7.5/10 interior & exterior, 5 speed, clean title very little mods (intake & exhaust) for 9K.

Im not paying 9k for a "lightly" modded 2g with a 7.5/10 interior/exterior :D

Now if he deep cleaned it from head-to-toe with a tooth brush every Saturday so its clean enough to eat french fries off the valve cover, i might've thrown in the extra $3k for the tender loving care.

In all seriousness tho... Id look for something under 100k first if I was willing to actually pay the $9k cause ive seen a few in that price range thats better than a 7.5/10. Factoring in inflation and the "want" factor. Id probably offer $6k and leave him my number. If he sees it as a lowball then we just dont see eye to eye on it, but if theres no takers hopefully im first on his call list. Happened with a 3000GT VR4 back in the day a month, when the owner was forced to come down in price, but id already found something else. Seen a lot of high prices lately for DSMs ranging from mediocre to mint, but not sure how much people are really getting for these cars after negotiating, but Ive come across better deals for $9k in the last couple of months. Guess it depends how much your "want" factor will let you drive up the price youre willing to pay.

Honestly, as a 1998 GST owner, I think they have much more value than the current market will pay.
I think these are some of the sleekest, sexiest, quickest, best handling (with upgrades), fastest braking (with upgrades), excellent MPG (with proper tune), easiest cars to modify and repair, with parts still available at junkyards, and great tech info online for nasty upgrades, and I will never sell my GST. The ultimate GST has a Quaife LSD in front, a built 5 speed, a high end turbo that kicks in after 4500 rpm so it doesn't break your tranny, and is lowered with 18 inch wheels on it...body kits are a personal choice LOL...but my friend tuned his to make 500 hp and also gets 50 mpg on the HWY if he keeps his foot out of the turbo and will go 500 miles with a full tank, driven softly. Beat that with an electric car!!

Still, they are only worth a couple thousand bucks, depending on condition.
This will change one day...maybe... LOL

This guy has triple posted this question so more than likely willing to pay double.ROFL
It’s just a question sir. Am I not allowed to ask or something LOL? Didn’t know specifically where to post.

Got it, appreciate your input and advice! Thanks for not getting offended that I asked a question.

Hahaha got it, thanks for your input. Hopefully one day I find a DSM that’s calling my name for a fair price.
