Hello, all! I am very new to the DSM world. Bought this car from a guy that was moving out of state. Finished up a few things mechanically and now it is in desperate need of a tune. I've spent a lot of time searching on forums and reading wikis/guides. I know this tune is not optimal, whatsoever. However, the car is drivable. I'm getting lots of knock in lower RPM and I am not sure why. I lowered timing everywhere to try and eliminate knock before proceeding with anything else. There ended up being a few bad sensors, which I have since replaced and captured a new log. Any and all help is very much appreciated! Thank you :)

I am down in SE Kansas or I'd just come by and get it half way straightened out for you!

Got it! Here it is. I'll gladly pay for your gas money if you want to make a trip up here and help me out, haha :)

You know, if I didn't work (lucky me I still have a job) 6 days a week, I would take a day off for a 3 day weekend and come up and "play" with your car.
1g or 2g car??? Stock or Speed Density? Auto or Stick?
I sent you a PM.
Marty

Well I can see that you need to manually adjust your TPS to get it closer in range (You shouldn't have the offset at 190 to get 100% throttle). Maybe you just made a typo when you were adjusting it. The knock is very prevalent at low rpms and under mild load, I think it is "noise" or check the sensor under the intake and see if it is loose or oozing goo, meaning it needs replaced. On gas, I am not surprised that timing maxes out around 5*. Do you have access to any E85? If so, put some in the tank and see if it suppresses the knock, mine did and I completely switched to E now.

ECMLink's forum is THE place for the best advice, and some of us hang out over there also Scott, but the tuners on here are really pretty good and our members even take stabs at problems since we have all experienced some of the same issues.

1g, speed density here, on both my auto and my stick cars so I am familiar with it.

I spend a lot of time there searching when I have issues. There is a ton of good info there and also good people (like here) who can sort out trouble quickly.

That’s why I asked if he was on those forums, not to take away from anyone here trying to help.

How rich does it have to be? Its running 11-14 AFR
You want idle to be around stoich, 14.7ish. WOT would dip to 10 - 10.5 maybe leaning out to 11 on gas.
If you have any idle logs, post them up and let me take a look at what you have in those.

1) You need to setup your pi assigments under ecu inputs so you can log map and wideband
2) Your narrowband switchpoint appears to be wrong for the LC2
3) click the "disable airflow smoothing" button under misc tab.
4) Fix tps

Rear O2 is missing from Pin Assignments in ECMLink... This is where my wideband is installed. I also have an O2 sensor installed in the Front O2 location. Does that mean that I can disable narrowband simulation?

I changed some settings and tried to "fix" my TPS. Not sure if its right. 5.0V at full throttle and around .35v at idle. Anyway, here is a log of idling (not completely cold, but not warmed up) and some short revs. Thank you guys for the fast responses and being so helpful!

There is no such thing as a rear o2 on a 1g. Whatever ecu input you wired your wideband into is what you pin and ecu input should be changed to. Yes, if you are running a stock front o2 then you should not use narrowband simulation. Your TPS is not fixed then. Go to ecmlink and read how to fix your tps.

Thank you everyone for the help. My car is a lot less broken than at the beginning of the day, and I am learning a lot! I wired the wideband into the EGR temp pin and changed the settings accordingly in ECMLink. Also, I think my 4 bar MAP is wired into the Baro pressure pin (not 100% sure), so I changed it to that in ECMlink also. I also restored the timing maps to stock 1g timing. After that, I captured a quick idle log to upload. Any more advice that you guys may have for me is very very much appreciated. Thank you!

Your tps is still wrong. Loosen both tps bolts, and rotate it until ecmlink sees 0.63v. Always do any idle work when the car is warmed up. You probably have a vacuum and/or need to set the BISS screw properly. Do everything on this page exactly how it says to do it. Your idle is way too high for your target.

Thank you for the link. I didn't have enough time last night to get to my TPS. Hopefully I can get that done this afternoon. I have a surging issue under partial throttle when revving. It is impossible to hold the car at any RPM higher than idle for more than about .5 seconds. Maybe this is related to my TPS problem? I will adjust it this afternoon and see what happens. Thanks again! :)

It's certainly possible. Get a log of the car fully warmed up and showing that activity. Reduce the deadtime by 50 prior to this.
