This is a story about my dream car and how our journey together. The car has been in my family since 2001 when my brother and I picked it out of a select few cars my mother was able to get with her insurance money for a previous accident. Not a very practical family car but we all fell in love with it. My brother at the time was the only one out of us two that had a license since I was only maybe 13 or 14 at the time. If I had to go anywhere believe me I want him dropping me off and picking me up in that car. It was probably the coolest thing my brother and I have ever had even though it was our mothers, but we didn't tell the other kids that LOL. All the nights we would sneak out together and go for a drive were some of the best memories I had even after we got caught by our dad. On March 5th 2005 my brother pasted away when our house caught fire and he was not able to make it out. The fire took everything from us and we were left with only our memories of "nick" and the car. I wasn't even 17 yet and I lost my best friend. A lot was put on my shoulders because my mom fell into a deep depression over my brothers death and my father could not work because he was losing his eyesight from diabetes since 2001. This car saved me from a low point in my life when I felt I lost everything and the stress of being there for my parents was just to much. Nothing felt better than just dropping the top and taking a drive to forget it all. When I was ready to start my senior year of high school my mom knew how much I loved the car and what it meant to me so she ended up giving it to me. At this point in my life the car was more then just sentimental to me, it would become my first car. If there was something cool I could do to it I was doing it and stopping by my brothers burial site to show him all the new improvements I was doing. One year on my way home from work the transmission went out on me so I parked it in the garage. I always had bigger dreams for that car but just didn't know how to go about it. One day I met someone in the junkyard who had a great knowledge on these cars and to later find out he actually knew my brother in high school. We became good friends and he was mentoring me on how I can make this car everything I wanted it to be. We did so much to this car while my dad was in the garage almost every step of the way. He was an old school muscle guy but he loved being there to listen to all the changes we were doing while sharing stories of his own. This car was no easy build being the fact it was such an extreme budget build and like most people when they get older life and kids happen. I went from meeting a girl to her getting pregnant to getting married all in a year to just end up divorced and bills up the you know what. That being said since it was a low budget built many corners were cut and things got reused which caused many complications. With so many things happening, what was once a simple project turned into something that was sitting in my parents garage for years. Unfortunately I was not able to finish the car before my dad past away. Shortly after that my mom lost the house and the car needed to be moved. It went from sitting at my uncle's driveway to my friends driveway to my other friends driveway to my fiance's mother's garage all in the past 4 years. Now my dream car that brought me so much happiness has now become a burden sitting on my shoulders because I just cant part with it and I can't finish her because I don't have the know how nor a lot of funds to keep putting into her since I'm the main supporter for my fiance and our 3 kids(right when I find a decent paying job covid hits and loose hours).... Well anyways I guess I joined DsmTuners to find friends and ppl to help me finish my precious car from rotting away or worse is some junkyard. I'm just hoping when I get enough funds that I've met some great ppl who can help turn my dream turned nightmare back into a dream again.

Your story is very compelling bro. I have a Spyder that I just got back on the road after a few years sitting, whatever you need hit us up, and maybe I can meet you at some point at the Shootout or one of the other Dsm events, you should really try to make it out, it wouldn't be far for you and you would gain some family from it that would last you a life time.

The part that sucks is there are a lot of people on here willing to help, but who don’t live close to you.

I am o e of those people. Hopefully you will find someone local that can maybe help?

what happened to the friend you met at the junkyard? He still around ?

The car was a auto 4G64 that was converted over to manual 4g63 7 bolt the first time. The wire harness and bay are still from the original 4g64 auto. The guy that was helping me out showed me what wires to slice. Its ran but not very well. I think it had boost leaks but before I was able to check the head gasket went. See it was a budget build and he said he recommends not using the stock studs again buy said it might work. Big mistake wish he would have told be that they could not be used and save myself the headache. Long story short we found a good 6bolt and put that in there with rap head studs this time. But before I could get everything wired up he moved. Well when most ppl know already is the 6 bolt just uses the 1 position sensor whereas the 7 used 2. I'm tried splicing this up per the diagram on here but couldnt get it to start. Not sure if I did it Wright or if it was something else because now I'm herring from ppl on here saying the firing order changes. My DSM knowledge is not to the point where I'm able to figure this out. Besides all that a battery and maintenance because the car is 21 years old and the engine hasn't been fired up since before it was put together over 6 years ago.

He moved then came back and didnt tell me he was back. I caught up with him a while back but everytime I text or call he straight ghost me. Not sure if he doesn't want to help me out because he's not doing the dsm thing anymore or he's just to busy with wife and kids, but either way he could still let me know.

That stuff is a straight *****/coward reason not to simply face someone like a man and say "hey I'm busy" or whatever, I hate that stuff like you dont know, when did it become ok to ignore/"ghost" another human being anyway? hopefully someday people that pull that coward shiz get theirs, there might be a day that they need something from someone so badly that only that one person can give them and hopefully they get "ghosted" by that person themselves so that they can see how it feels, special place in hell for those types of people, special place in hell.

Yes, the firing order is backwards if your using a 95-96 ecu with the 1g cam angle sensor or the 97-99 cam sensor with the 95-96 ecu.

From what he told me when he got the ecm for me it's a 95 Eprom. How can I check to make sure and is it as simple as changing the spark plug order?

Its whatever I'm not going to dwell on it, I'll just make new friends on here.

The easiest way is to take two minutes and swap the wires on coils 1 and 4 with the wires on coils 2 and 3 and see if it starts.

I'm going to try this to see if it works.

This is the plug wire routing you'd need.

This diagram really helps

Before I try this and attempt to start it, is there anything I should do first since the engine has been sitting for so long. I would hate to damage something.

Squirt some oil or lube of some kind into the cylinders before you rotate it over and make sure the timing belt is in good shape. It'd be ashame if it broke a T-belt and took out any valves.

The timing belt and tensioner where new when I put together the engine but that was 6 years ago so I'm not sure if that will make a difference. Could I lose the cylinders through the spark plug holes or should I pull the head off considering I probably will get everything doing that.

But if I can avoid pulling the head off I rather do that unless there is no sure way to lube the cylinder walls

Sorry in advance for the spelling and grammar issues using speak to text.

Your overthinking this, just spray some Wd-40 or a pop bottle cap full of motor oil down the cylinders and then crank the engine over with the plugs out a few seconds to spread the oil onto the cylinder walls, then put the plugs and wires back and see if it fires up or what it does.

I tend to do that a lot with this car. I just don't want anymore setbacks.

Thank you everyone for taking the time to read my story. It feels good to get some of that off mt chest and let ppl know some of the back story of how I got to were I'm at today with the car. As soon as I get a break from work and family I'm going to try your guys suggestions and so what happens.
