I've tested my stock head unit and an aftermarket one with the metra harness and I have no sound from my speakers at all. I've checked both fuses and speaker wiring. Could this be the stock infinity amp that went bad ? If so is it easier to bypass or replace these ?

Most likely the factor amp. You can use a 12v battery to check the speaker(s). It should thump once as soon as you apply power. Idk if you can bypass on the factory head unit but you sure can on an aftermarket.

Have you checked the settings of the radio itself ... You may need to adjust the unit so it knows it plays through the infinity amp.. ? Also check your grounds..

Im ditching the stock head unit and ill be using my new double din. I just need another metra adapter to bypass the amp ?

Both radios work fine. The aftermarket one is brand new. I dont see any lose grounds either.

My speaker system had an issue with the factory amp that had gone bad. The speakers would play for a bit (super bad quality tho) and then the head unit fuse would blow. So I bought an amplifier bypass wiring harness and it worked just fine. I’d try a bypass or get a new amp. My head unit sends 45 watts to each speaker and has been more than enough, so unless your building a big system you’d probably be better off just getting a bypass rather than a new amp. Bypassing the factory amp is not hard at all and if you have any spare speaker wire and a little wiring knowledge it's not hard..gotta run wire from the white gray green and purple spk wires of aftermarket radio to the output wires of the amp.

I would recommend using a 9v battery to “pop” the speakers if you can so its lower power to the speakers, but yeah bypassing the factory amp is not too bad at all.. I believe you can buy a harness that directly does it OR just jump the input to the output but don’t forget the tweeter wires as well! They will need a crossover so they do not get sent low level signals and blow them.

I've also noticed on the stock Infinity amp under the passenger seat, sometimes the 6 pin DIN cable comes partially out which turns off the speakers.

So I bypassed the amp today and everything works. I feel like the sound is kinda weak though. I have an android head unit so I can probably tweak it somewhat. Did anybody else notice it sounding considerably worse without the stock amp or is it just me ?

Amps provide the extra needed power for bass (low frequencies) that speakers (especially larger ones) require that head units can't provide.
