I'm absolutely terrible at reading things and comprehending what I'm reading sometimes so maybe it's just me. But I'm not sure what I'm doing with line adjustments for the valve body. I've completely rebuilt it and trying to button it up, but no idea what to do with the adjustments and directions are confusing and looking at one of John's videos from IPT Trans, he says the opposite of what the directions tell me. A little insight would be greatly helpful. This is mainly for a drag only car, looking for upwards of 1k horsepower so I'm assuming I need all the pressure I can get (but new to automatics). I'm not understanding what's being mentioned by dividing this or that. Do I just back both of these adjustments out all the way for the firmest, quickest shifts? Something else? Not sure how I'd know how much pressure I'm running either. Help?!?!? Also, I have the following two kits installed...

About 11:55 into this video. This is where he says softer, clockwise, and firmer is counter clockwise which is the opposite of above.

And 4:28 on this one.

What all have you upgraded in the trans? I think there's a way you can log line pressure that way you can get it where you want it

Run the little rectangle headed bolt all the way in for the most line pressure (and IIRC it is a backwards thread). You usually go all the way in and back it out 1 1/2 - 2 turns. I wish I had just backed mine out only 1 turn for even firmer shifts. You can also adjust line pressures with a SmartShift 100.1 shiftbox via a laptop.

The two kits I posted above for the shift kit, welded diff, diff locker, Kiggly 6 clutch pack, JB oil pan, and just replaced some of the factory parts that needed replacing. I mean the only thing I haven't done is the billet stuff. Just not understanding the whole line pressure and reducing pressure thing is all.

Alright so I called up IPT on my lunch break and spoke to John, again. Didn't think they were open today. Awesome guy to talk to though and totally doesn't give me the feeling that he's just about the money.

But what he told me was that the directions from the shift kit are wrong and to turn it counter clockwise. So that's what I'll be doing. Now as for maxing it out, he said to max it out but when he does it, he turns it back a bit so that the valve doesn't stick. So I had it right and throwing the pan back on and then prepare for another gazillion questions. Lol.

As I thought. I've done 3 or 4 of his kits. Just wish I had left mine a little tighter but like John told you, don't bottom it out. Half to 1 turn out (backing it out will be clockwise) from the seat and it wont stick and have great line pressure. :thumb:
Glad you got to talk to him, that's AWESOME!
