I have a customers car over here and I’m changing the timing belt , I’m trying to remove the timing cover and I can’t see anyway that it can be removed . It a 99gsx with a 6 bolt motor ... am I missing something ?

You need to unscrew the studs from the drivers side motor mount to slide the cover off, of course support the engine when you do this with a jack and a block of wood on the oil pan, and then all of the cover bolts come off and then the crankshaft pulley (four outer small bolts, leave the large middle bolt) and the cover should come off.

Motor mount is off , I’ve jacked up the engine , stick can’t seem to get it out , it’s super super tight

For clarity, what is tight? the mount hole? Or just tight against the inner strut tower/frame? Cant get the cover out, away from the engine, enough to get the mount thru the cover?

I bet spyderdrifter is correct. This is the 1 pc cover, correct? It was likely installed with the engine out of the car, so you probably wont be able to get the angles needed while its in the car... But its just a guess*

Can you include pics and more description of the specific issue?

I got it , I opened the hood before leaving for work and got it out in 3 seconds , out the bottom. It’s true what they say.....sometimes u gotta put stuff down and come back to it
