Hi guys

I'm installing a walbro 255 HP into my 95 talon awd. I ordered the install kit with the pump from extreme psi.

What is the little metal ring for?

Also are both white washers used?

And is there supposed to be a spacer that goes on the outlet along with the oring and white washer? Thanks

I THINK the metal ring goes on the bottom and pushed up on the filter. Its like a little "lock" ring that will help it stay in place. I also do not think there is any spacers used, just the o-ring. There are a ton of write-ups on these installs, as well as vfaqs so just be sure to do a little research. Good luck man.

Ya I found an video that showed the lock ring holding the sock in place.

Everything I've found says there's a plastic spacer on the stock pump that gets reused? I'm surprised none of the DSM specific install kits include this piece. It keeps the o-ring from sliding down the pump outlet (from the pressurized fuel).

Start at 2:00, you'll only use one white pieces and you'll reuse the spacer of the stock pump- just to confirm what you were asking.

Thanks. Spacer was tossed with the rusted stock pump unfortunately.

I know this was a couple of months ago, but I just installed mine. The only parts from the kit I used were: white plastic top ring; rubber o-ring; metal lock washer for filter bag; rubber gasket for filter bag.

I got lucky and my top 19mm flare nut broke loose. I still had to loosen the lower 19mm nut too so I could remove that 8” section of fuel line, but at least I pulled the pump without having to cut the sheet metal.

I would recommend using 2 of these. I used one and it ended up riding up and losing pressure. They are like $1.50 each, so I would get a few, for spares. I couldn't find anyone selling a spacer, o ring and top hat. I guess you could mimic a spacer out of rubber line.

I've attached an image. The rubber piece should be seated way down, out of view. Two did the trick.

Were you able to get this installed & did it just drop in without any modification?
