Anyone ever had to flip their Compression Control Arm bushing?

I’ve been replaced my CCA’s today with oem ones since the ball joints have gone bad. I started with the passenger side and everything fit perfectly. Ball Joint lined up, and the mounting bolts did as well.

Switched over to do the driver’s side CCA; low and behold the mounting bushing is backwards. Bolt holes don’t line up correctly with the threads. Only way to make it fit is to flip the bushing. Thanks Mitsubishi.

I’ve heard a 1-5/8 or 64mm deep socket would fit around the edge of the bushing and can flip it 180 with some effort.

Not too sure how to go about this. Any advice would be nice. I’ll post a pic of the new bushing’s position compared to the old one that fit.

It's not backwards, at least not that it's a production error. It's intentional to compensate for the crown in the road sadly.

Later stuff shouod be automatically flipped as years ago they stopped doing this if its a mitsu part. All galants and dsm's got the same arm and bushing the same both sides so im not sure why yours is like this.

But as said above. Press it out flip it and make sure you keep it the same plain when pushing back in again

Learn something new every day. I largely ig n ores 2g stuff years ago because I didn't own one. I've even replaced those arms and didn't notice although mine may have been identical since I'm 2gb.

The offset bush is a nightmare and the alignment is not easy to get right and one adjustment messes with something else.

You're on the right track but a press is easier. Why not return it?

I would return it, but they came with the car when I bought it. Figured I’d see if I could find a way to make them fit before going out and ordering a new one.

You'll need a press.
Here's some info as to the reason (which you might have already seen): https://www.dsmtuners.com/threads/resolved-2g-caster-changing-it.176057/#post-1469639

Yeah, that’s the thread I found after doing a little digging into this. Some pretty helpful stuff. Also some pretty confusing stuff too LOL

I noticed the original poster mentioned he fit a
1 5/8th deep socket around the inward lips of the bushing and was able to rotate it that way, probably with an impact gun. I was thinking of giving this a shot before I go out and find a machinery shop with a press that’ll do it.

Yeah, that’s pretty close to my thoughts on this. The bushing *should* be compatible. Only thing I could think is maybe the arm is for a pre-97 DSM; before mitsubishi decided to remove some driver’s side caster. But that would be equally as weird. Either way it should be sufficient to press them out and flip them. I’ll give it a shot and get back to you all.

Thanks guys.
