You guys ain't gonna believe this shit. Pretty sure I just ruined my engine. Sooooo I was getting ready for the drag races tomorrow. Did a blt at 35 psi and changed a bad battery ground (which I was hoping was my cause of a dropping fuel psi and voltage). Tried to start the car low rough idle and died a few times. Figured I maybe got something wet spraying soapy water. Well then it started barely turning over struggling and not starting. My dumbass tried again.:banghead: Some loud noises from the engine and locked. So I'm wondering WTF what could I have done? Where do I start? So I thought I'll check fuel pressure, car off and fuel pump on. Why I decided to check that after what just happened I have no idea. I get out of the car it says 80!!!!! :confused:Wtf??? So I' find the Allen wrench and end wrench and start turning it down and down and down then I notice my gas light on. Well I was pretty low. Good thing I just bought 5 gallons of e98. Next part I still can't believe. I shit you not e98 starting pouring out of my intake.OMG I filled cylinders, pipes, intercooler and turbo with fuel. my whole garage has e98 everywhere. Anyone care to guess what happen before I tell you? :hmm: Think my starter is stronger than my eagle h beams? :ohdamn:

I wouldn't panic just yet. Get it all drained then do a comp and leakdown.
That was my plan. I dunno if I had problems before or my tester is just a pos but every time I've done a leak down test I got bad results. Always low compression too but equal across the board and it's a cheapo tester. I pulled plugs and intercooler and got all the fuel out I could. Rest should of evaporated by now. Checked timing and it's good.
That's bizarre. So the engine is locked up and won't rotate? There is a lot going on here start at the beginning as if it where a no-start: https://www.dsmtuners.com/threads/how-to-diagnose-a-no-start.217951/
Oh I know why it won't start. The cylinders had fuel in them. Ha ha like not just a little either.

Leaking injector or you left the bl tester on? I had one leaking injector and got fuel everywhere too internally
Nope not a leaking injector. That was my first thought as Well.

I got all the fluid out and turned it over by hand to check timing. That's a good sign at least it rolls over. Haven't tore into to test anymore though. Hopefully it didn't bend any rods. From the sound it made though I'm sure something is jacked up

Compression check and possibly a leak down would give some pretty good data. Good luck, sorry about the shitty luck you had, I've had a touch of it myself lately.....

I had the same failure in my Fuelab FPR. I had really bad starting issues and only noticed it due to having clear tubing for my old mechanical boost gauge. Was looking around and noticed it was full of gasoline. Such an odd failure / hard to diagnose.

In my opinion, the high-ish BLT pressure caused the diaphragm to overextend, especially without pressurized fuel under it. The diaphragm may have been well used and may have just had a weak spot, but it was probably inflated like a balloon until it gave out, at which point the engine was started and pressurized fuel went through the diaphragm and back into the intake manifold via the vacuum line.

Never thought of that. Now makes me think I was lucky BLT to 45psi! Don't forget to change your oil. Most likely dumped fuel into pan. Fingers crossed that the H beams held up.

This is an interesting though. So do most people unhook their AFPR when doing a boost leak test? I cant say I ever have but that would explain why mine ripped back in the day as well.

Regulator was 10+ years old. I'm guessing from now on I'll test with fuel pump on or cap the line. I got a compression test done today. Cold was 135 across the board. I'm sure that would bump up a bit warm. From what I can remember the car always tested a lil low but being equal I just turned the boost up. ROFL I gotta try to source a leak down tester. I have a harbor freight but I don't trust that thing. I tried it a few times and it was all over the place and inconsistent. The compression test sounds promising though right? Any thoughts on prepping it for start up besides oil change and new fpr obviously. Maybe cheap oil run it for a bit then change it again? Think I need to drop the pan and look at rods?

I think at 130 we can say you probably didn't hurt anything too badly internally... I could be wrong here, so please chime in if you have conflicting experience. With all the fuel washing the oil off the rings, 130 seems pretty reasonable. did you try a wet compression test? just curious?

I agree with @rabenne. All at 135 is okay for dry and lower compression or loose ptw forged slugs. The leakdown test would be reassuring of the headgasket, but otherwise the only concerns I'd have would be the main and rod bearings. I think your idea of running some cheap high detergent oil through it would be a good idea, along with checking for any glitter/bearing material right away after doing so. Might also check the starter and the flywheel teeth.
