Hey Im new to the forum and was looking for some help. Im currently driving a 2g spyder and need help finding a how to for removing the frame of a convertable. I need to take out the whole roof frame. One bar going across the top of the car (right where your head is) has broken off of the bars running parralel to the car on both sides. The whole frame is pretty much junk and the fabric is torn and beat up from the previous owner. If you can link me a how to or post with help i would appriciate it much.

Ryan

Its a PITA.... Do you have a spare roof assy?

If you find a frame I would just have the fabric professionally installed; more work than it is worth to do it yourself.

just did mine i will make a youtube video to tell you how

Same Issue here, except I have a bar broken over the rear driver side window. Its a support bar that I believe broke because I usually manually drop the top from that side

So... I just went for broke and managed to get a very good quality top from a friend who changed all his mechanical stuff to a hardtop (I wanted that same route but no dice as all the ones I found were 420a and I have 4G63t) I got it and installed it by myself in 2.5 hours, it's not difficult but also not easy. If you don't got any experience, DO EVEN THINK about it. If you've got patience and a friend preferible you'll be able to locate the grand total of 8 screws holding the top onto the car...

it’s a bit more involved than just “8 screws”, I put together a fairly comprehensive tech article a few months back: https://www.dsmtuners.com/threads/convertible-top-replacement.528063/

This has all been very helpful. The previous owner took a bolt out of the frame rail assembly, and I had no luck in finding a replacement...just bought a couple of frame rails off eBay and am waiting for the parts to be shipped. Thank you everyone for sharing!
