Hi guys.. I'm looking for friends in the area who would like to help out a fellow DSMer. I have a 99 gs spyder auto that I converted to manual 6 bolt 4g63. I have just small mods: small 16g, fmic, wideband, greddy true 3inch turbo back exhaust, vlink(not hooked up) lower springs on evox wheels. I know some of the basics but hit a road block with wiring the 6bolt. The guy that was helping me with this build was coning me out of some of my rare black interior and other stuff before I realized how valuable it was. Then life happened and now my car has been sitting unfinished for 6 years now..my ol lady wants me to get rid of it but I just cant do it(it's my first car and the last car my brother drove before he died). It means a lot to me so if I can revive it just maybe I can convince her to keep it.. Please I need help ppl

Bro I feel your pain. Mine has been dead since 2013. Brand New engine installed by a friend mechanic. He f***ed up so much he may have destroyed the engine....so I'm possibly back to square one....best advice from another dsmer. Learn how to do it even if you can't. Double check others work. Don't start it, don't do anything. Inspect the shit out of it.... it'll save you.

I have to do something because she is telling me it has to go but this car means to much to me. I just need a battery and someone to show me how to wire the cas/timing and how to safely start it after its been sitting for so long. If I can get it started just maybe she will change her mind.

If your talking about the car that you used as your avatar I can see your desire to bring her back to life . Sorry about the loss of your brother , this makes an even stronger bond to the vehicle . As a rule of thumb , I would never let any one touch my car unless they are a licensed mechanic . Back yard mechanic`s are a dime a dozen and combined they don`t know crap. You might have some luck at a Chrysler dealership service center.. remember that the Chrysler Sebring has the same engine as the Eclipse and also the Dodge Stratus . Hang in there Bro....

If she actually cares about you she would not press you/nag you into doing something that you dont want to do, just say no...I mean if she nagged you into sharing her with another man long enough would you agree to that? sometimes you have to stand up for yourself and what you want.

Amen Motto! Just tell her how you feel and why you want to keep it, just like you told us. It doesn't sound like it needs a lot to get it going. I still have my first car BTW and my wife hates it LOL. Some things mean more than money or "space". You will always think about the car if it's gone. I hope you find someone local that can help you brother! :hellyeah:

I've had mine for years as well. My wife over the years never would tell me to sell it. Complain about me spending alot of money on it yes but never sell it. Even now as we are on the path of purchasing a home still doesn't want me to sell it unless I want to. A wise man with an addiction to off roading 4 runners once told me, "if you sold that car and that person ends up crashing it would it effect you?" Heck yea it would! I'd beat that person if he lived through the crash (metaphorically, just how I felt) so i decided to keep my car. Still dont regret keeping it. Now back to the point you have a 6 bolt swap and need help wiring? I mean I have a 1g in a 2g cas harness I had bought years ago before I went with a kiggly crank sensor for my 6 bolt. Is that something that interests you?

Would something like that work considering the original harness is the 99 4g64 auto that was wired for a 7 bolt and now has to be wire for a 6 bold(there is no plug on the harness anymore).

My fault, I totally overlooked that you're coming from 4g64 harness. The 1g in a 2g harness I have is for those that have a 7 bolt 4g63 engine harness and went with a 1G CAS. According to my brief google searching they are not the same. And I am not going to pretend I know exactly what you need to do LOL. If it were me I'd just get a 4g63 harness, 2G ecu and I believe you'd need the fuse box harness as well. Just from a brief skim through this thread https://www.dsmtuners.com/threads/4g64-fuse-box-with-4g63-wire-harness.482344/ but that's just what id do because I hate figuring out wiring, less headache but assuming cost more than trying to figure out the wiring.

I have a 95 ecu..everything was rewired for the 7 bolt that was put in there but when I switched to the 6 bolt I got lost when it came to the cas and the guy that was helping me moved. I did think about getting a new 2G engine bay harness and just start over, but if I can get it going with what I hace I rather do that later down the road. If anyone knows where I can find 6 bolt cas in a 2G wire diagram and position maybe I can figure it out..

so you have the CAS wires still just no plug on the end?

also, when it was wired for the 7 bolt, was there a 7 bolt swapped to the car that ran?

The car start off as a 99 gs spyder auto 4g64. It was swapped with I believe a 97 m/t and 7 bolt 4g63 still using the gs body harness and engine harness. It ran and drove before the head gasket went because I was still fairly new at this I reused head studs. When this happened I got a running 6bolt that I has the head cleaned and resurfaced. This time I used a multilayer head gasket and arp head studs(was going to make that mistake again). Besides b/s elimination everything else is stock and put together in the car. When it can to wiring up the cas I guess I did iy wrong or was positioned wrong because it would not fire up.

Sorry for the grammer and spelling errors I'm using a different phone because mobile sucks right now.

No worries, You know you need to swap spark plug firing order right? technically injectors too but not a must to get her fired up

CAS wiring

post #2 has pic of firing order for 95-96 ecu
https://www.dsmtuners.com/threads/1g-cas-in-2g-injector-order.502274/#:~:text=(next to or across from,1g ECU injector pin placement.&text=2g ECU injector pin placement.

P.S. I'm hoping this helps but trouble shooting from a screen on somebodies else's work... sometimes doesn't.

Thanks for the link and suggestions. Any tip for preventive measures since the car has been sitting for over 6 years besides just changing the oil. I'm worried about cranking the engine after that long of a period.

I’m in Illinois near Naperville and I’d be willing to help you get it mechanical ready to fire up, as for the wiring, I’m not super familiar with the swap and all that Jazz. If you do decide that you want to go the route of getting a “new” harness and you can go to performancepartout.com and get a used one or order a new one from ohmracing.com if you call them they can actually wiring the harness to it will fit your current ecm and have all the correct engine plugs with everything ran the way it needs to be to fire up.

I thought about getting a 2G 4G63 engine and bay harness and starting over that way my fuse box will be in the right location but at the same time a wire tuck would be really nice so I'm not sure if that would even matter but then again I just want to get her going I can worry about other things after that

I thought I had commented on another one of your need friendly local guys posts.
Maybe it got deleted, who knows.
The dodge avenger and Chrysler sebring share of of parts with 2g cars.
I dont think I've heard of your town so I'm probably no help to you.
Get people here on tuners, theres no accountability for fb mechanics, here we have rules and standards.

I’d be willing to make it once or twice, as I said, I can help on the mechanical part of getting it running but I’m not familiar with the wiring part a 6 bolt swap. It’s even more difficult since someone else touch it but probably still doable. I don’t mind helping others, you got to start somewhere and without the help of others, I wouldn’t be where I am now.

I would definitely appreciate the help because idk any DSMers in my area. I'm going to blow the dust off it this weekend and see what I can do. If you want I can pm you my number and maybe we can link up in the near future.
