I have a 1998 GSX and I am trying to get the keyless entry working. I have researched and read all the appropriate threads on here.
I got this fob http://www.ebay.com/itm/111208145503?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT. Then I jumped pin 1 to 4 with a paperclip, it cycled the lock unlock sequence which I guess verifies that it is in "learn" mode. I click the remote 3 times and then nothing. It doesn't cycle again and link the fob to the car. I pulled the inside driver rear quarter and was able to verify that the keyless control module was there and hooked up. In a couple of the threads I saw people mention the hood switch causes a lot of problems, well mine is missing all together. Attached is a pic. Is it possible to set up a fob with this part missing? Do I have to replace it or is there a way to trick the system into thinking it's closed all the time?

Here is today's update. I installed the other keyless control module and still no dice. It still went into program mode cycling the locks after jumping pins 1 to 4 but will not recognize the remote. Anyone have any ideas on this? It seems like it is either the aftermarket remote just plain doesn't work or maybe the trunk or hood switch is floating around somewhere registering as open. Any thoughts are appreciated.

Make sure the little door switch that turns the interior lights on and off when you open and close doors are working. There's one for each door this also tells the alarm the door is closed or open and can effect things. And check your trunk for the same piece I sent you it needs one too. :) Other than that I got my oem fob for like $40-50 from mitsubishiparts.com

My alarm works from the fob but lock and unlock don’t. Anyone have any advice? Power locks work when pressing on the door though just not from the fob. 2g eclipse. Factory fob just replaced batteries.

If you have already followed the programming steps in post #19, then you will have to verify a few things first.

Make sure the interior lights turn off when you close both doors, and back on when you open either one by themselves. If the lights don’t follow the action of the door, clean or replace the door switches.

Next, lock the doors with the power lock button and close the doors. Try both doors with the key, unlocking them, and see if the alarm goes off when you open the door. If it does, you have a missing, or not connected, key cylinder switch. Connect or replace those.

There *may* be a cylinder switch for the hatch too. The two hardtops we had were race cars, so no remote locks

While you are at it, make sure the hood switch is installed and adjusted correctly.

Fobs die for reasons other than dead batteries, so it may be time to order a new set. We’ve had good performance from eBay, but oem might still be available.

Awesome. I didn’t program the fob because the alarm will go off using the fob so I figured it was programmed. The weird thing is that the indicator light on the fob lights up red when I press the alarm button but the light won’t light up when pressing the lock or unlock button. Unlocking the doors with the key doesn’t sound the alarm so I’m good there I think. I don’t hear any relays that everyone else has talked about as I have been looking into it. I don’t hear anything when pressing lock or unlock on the fob. I did see however that I’m missing the door switch on the drivers side but everything else is intact on the others. Do you think that is all my problem is? But why wouldn’t the fob also light up when hitting lock or unlock even with missing the door switch, the fob would still try and light up shouldn’t it? Thanks!

I actually got it working, I cleaned the contacts on the fob that were all gummed up. I don’t know why I didn’t think of that right away. But now alarm and keyless entry work great. I will still be ordering a door jam switch to replace the missing one just to make everything right. Thanks for the help!!
