Hey everyone, so I have a 99 RS, and as most of you know they did not come with skirts. Well I just so happen to have a set of 2gb and 2ga skirts for my car, and I was wondering if anyone could help me out with the hole locations for the skirts. I was doing some reading on here and apparently one guy was supposed to make some templates, but never did from what I read. I also read the write-up on dsmtalk where the guy put some on his car, and he put grease or something on the back of the clip holders and pressed them against the car. So, maybe someone could give me measurements for the hole locations, or give me some advice on how to get the hole locations (accurately). I really don't want to mess up drilling the holes. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Take the clips out, use this layer of paste or marking paint on the clip retainers, press the skirt into place. This will give you witness marks of where the clips will sit, and of done right will leave a center section blank of whatever marking agent, indicating to drill there.

That's what I'd do at least.

If you have 2ga door caps you aren't using let me know, as I am looking for passenger side or both, I have a broken one.

I already had someone pm me about them. For now I'm gonna stick with the 2gb look, and swap in and out as I please. I also have the Talon bumper to match.

As for drilling the holes I used some blue painters tape as like a template for all of the clip standoffs. I marked the center of the hole on the tape, and then followed that mark up to the edge of the skirt. And marked on the car where the center hole of the clips were as well. I wish I had pictures to make sense of all this.

Sounds like you figured it out. Making a template like that is usually the easiest way. Last time I did it I made a rubbing with some butcher paper and a crayon.

When I helped a friend install 2ga talon twisty skirts on his 2gb talon I used grease. Packed it into the clip holes on the skirt to the point where it was poking out then pressed against the car. Worked great.

How would you guys recommend rustproofing this? I was thinking some kind of roughly similar paint on maybe a Q-Tip, and just rub it around the drilled holes? I'm doing this exact project on my Autozam Scrum which is getting 12-piece factory skirts, and the only piece that I've counted had 13 clips. It's going to be a long project...

What adhesive is suggested along with the fasteners? I am prepping my 2ga GSX for some Talon twistys. My original side skirts had a bunch of broken tabs. When I pulled them, I can see some sort of glue or adhesive paste in the "channels". It's not like a tape and I would love to apply the same treatment so they are on solid. It's like an outline of the top of the sideskirt and fully around the upper part on the door.

I bought some 3M VHB 0.125" width tape. Scraped off all the old crap and put the tape on the side skirts. Seems to be working well.

I'm half 2ga Eclipse and half 2ga Talon for right now. If anyone needs hole measurements or anything, let me know. I will probably have the driver's side off this weekend.

I would also recommend picking up several spare fasteners. I had to raid my parts stash because a few broke
