this is for my build 2g 99 gsx.

this wiring is fully custom. using my own relay and wiring. (except the 5in of leads i left on the ecu)

a single speed rad fan that i want to run off a switch and the ecu at the same time

i made this quick wiring diagram of what i think it should be.

-1 IS THIS DIAGRAM RIGHT?
-2 switch off position. ecu will turn on fan when parameters are met, even tho pin 20-21 are tied together?
-3 switch on position. wont hurt the ecu?

With you having a 2g, the ability is there, I just don't know which output the 2g guys use. It is in the EGR or FPR setup. They give it parameters to throw a ground to the fan through it. If I find any better info, I'll follow up with it or maybe some 2g guys will chime in. :thumb:

here are the parameters for dsmlink v3 full on a 2g dsm
i like your idea i just couldn't find anything on ecmlink and rad fans when i looked before making my diagram
if this is possible i would love to do it, and also make a write up on it

I'm controlling my fans with the EGR/FPS outputs, it works great since it's so easy to adjust settings. Not sure where you got those shots of the parameters, but it's outdated. They added a coolant temp parameter a few years ago.

also, is the signal from the egr/fps a 12v or ground signal from the ecu?

ECMLINK has the option to control the fans, you can get it ON with the key ON, or you can set them to turn ON early.
okay im getting excited now LOL. my firmware must be out of date on my ecu. tomorrow i will be updating my ecu and report back with my findings LOL i wonder what else im missing with this old firmware LOL

The ability to remove the alternator signal when using a different alternator, the fuel pump prime time which you can set up the time how long you want it to prime Etc etc.
yea im gonna be running a saturn alt in the car. but for my prime pump, i think for now the switch is fine LOL but thanks a ton for the idea to set it up as a timed prime, thats actually a great idea!!!!

Ground signal. I am using the EGR output to power up other equipment but it just throws a ground to that wire/pin. I was just there last night working on some stuff.

perfect! im gonna be going to my unit later today to update my firmware and my install my shift 100.1 that legit just showed up!!! and what kinda stuff where you working on? hopefully installing nitrous :D

You have a sharp mind.......yes it was the nitrous set up and purge valve. I also tested my MAC 3 port to see if I could hold it wide open (like at the end of the track when I need that extra boost to win) and it worked also.

thats still on my todo list for my build. gotta get up on my converter with my borgwarner s400 turbo LOL are you running a wet shot or dry?

I don't want to unrail the thread but started wet but goin dry now. We'll see how I like it.

okay so i deff need some help here

i did the wiring just like the diagram. ecu kicks on fan at 210* and turns it off at 203*, and maintains this temperature range, which is exactly correct.

Question:
what temp should i maintain for my drag car. whats the max tamp i want the car to be at for operating temps?

can someone please explain on link how to set up FPS or EGR to control coolant temp? i just need examples of the setting for certain temps.

Why not using coolant settings instead adding wiring and stuff for the egr or FPS.

Just go to the coolant setting and add what temperature you want the fans to turn ON.

You can even set it to turn ON at 190. This way you don’t need any wiring stuff.
