Just bought a rebuild older garrett t3 turbo
specs are
62mm 82mm billet wheel
74mm/62mm in a .63 housing

I tried math, had my daughter help, came up with it being a 57 trim. I looked up t3 57 trim seen dynos for around 400 ish hp. I was thinking it would be 45 lbs/min, but I looked up that wheel and I'm find things that are saying its more like 70lbs a min.

I was going to put on a hx 35, but saw this turbo for a good price and bought it thinking, its smaller, read lag is a problem but thought hey i'll put it on enjoy the car some than do something different later on. Im a noob with turbos, still learning.

Should I run this thing? and what would it take to make it decent? Anybody wants to sling some info I'm willing to listen.

engine is 6bolt eagle rods, wiesco pistons standard bore and everthing else is still in the works

Thought I was buying the non chinese version of the one on the right.
 
That's a pretty beefy turbo. I'd guess the same, 65-70lb/min turbo.

Gt3684 (gtw6262) comes close on your measurements and is a 750+ up turbo. It's turbine has a slightly smaller major at 71mm vs your 74. Has the same open t3 housing options, though I bet it'll still be pretty laggy overall.
 
Most-likely has a P-trim turbine which is 74/64.5mm but is difficult to get an accurate measurement across the exducer due to the odd-numbered blade count (11).

This is not a T04E 57-trim cast compressor in no way, shape or form- it appears to be a billet revision of a GT35R compressor and would actually be the same spec as a Precision 6265 by the numbers, putting it closer in size to a HX40 so just be ready for the additional lag; you'll want to be able to rev to at least 8000ish to really put a turbo of this size to use. The .63 housing is going to hold it back from really being able to reach full potential but it should still be a solid 600whp option as-is.

Calculating compressor trim will only tell you how a certain wheel performs in regard to compression per revolution- lower trim is better for lower boost levels, higher trim for higher boost....but it's only really comparable when discussing a line of wheel with all the same exducer spec.
 
Thanks for the detailed info, like I said I'm a turbo newb. Thats defiantly more power than I was planning on making, going to have to rethink a few things.
