I'm surprised no noobs have come on here posting that it's a 4g37 , but nice find i prefer the g64b or the early 4g64 6 bolts i recently pulled the earliest 2.4 mitsu offered in the us out of an "85 galant. You must be logged in to view this image or video. You must be logged in to view this image or video.
I thought G64B was a wide block. I have seen some in the mini trucks but never thought about being the same as the DSM.
I do know we can use the cranks which is the same (6 bolt 4G64) but never knew it was a narrow block.
I've seen this info tossed around online, but i remember visually seeing 3 fwd Colt vistas with g64b's in them. Scraped the tags clean to see if one was a 4g64 mark, but they all said g64b, so I wrote wrote them off not thinking about it. Funny thing is they Colt vista wasn't equipped with the 2.4 from the factory.
Thinking back, it's strange that 3 Colt vistas all showed up at the junk yard at the same time...maybe someone unsuccessful swapped them and decided they'd had enough?
The G64B Is a wide block on the van and trucks, so the blocks won't bolt on dsm transmissions, however in the early and now extremely rare "85-"87 boxy looking 5th gen Galants that had fwd with the G64B 2.4 engine are narrow blocks engines, and they do bolt up to dsm transmissions.I thought G64B was a wide block. They could have been G63B colt vistas the "84-"88 are all G63B if they are all newer 91-92 vans my guess would be that they are import motors the USDM cars had no reason to run the older G64B engine code anymore.

So I just verified that the block is from a 1987 Mitsubishi Galant fwd, they want 300 bucks. It’s about an hour away. Might be worth the travelif they are already pulled from the cars and the transmissions removed, the best way to verify that they are Narrow blocks is to bring a basic tape measure with you, and measure the bell housing dowel bolt centers narrow blocks are 12.75 inches acrossYou must be logged in to view this image or video. This image above is the G64B i just recently got, and sure enough it is a Narrow block the wide blocks will measure 13.75 across from bolt centers, and I have never seen a 6 bolt fwd wide block Mitsubishi so if you know the car they came from is fwd they are vary likely Narrow blocks and well worth $300 provided that they are in good shape.
nah just some grime it will all clean up though.Beautiful find! I am certainly jealous
@mitsubishikid at first I thought you crinklecoated your engine and I was thinking who in the world does something like that
Based on what i see I would say without a doubt the crank is forged. The rods and crank have a flat wide parting line. Does not look castI'm not sure if they are forged or not, it is a good question I know both are nitrided, however I will end 1 misconception of Hyundai G4CS cranks being sourced from japan, long story short they are not, they may have the same function as their mitsu counterparts, but they have different part numbers the G4CS crank is part number 2311032600, where the G64B/4G64 "85-"92 used part number MD080691, back when Hyundai started making cars they paid to license Mitsubishi to design engines for them, and they in turn gave the plans to Hyundai for many of their early engines, and then Hyundai made them in South Korea on their own for their own vehicles.
There is several locally, including the g4cb? Out of 87 galant fwd , I was gunna buy more but I have WAY to much junk. These are super hard to find. I was looking for a 64 block to do an N/A build. Good find.
