My goal is to get about 300-350hp, just wanna make this car fun to drive again on the streets, this is my first time upgrading my car so I just ordered the evo 16g with the install kit from summit racing

so far I've got:
catback system exhaust 3inch
K&N cold air intake
Intercooler with/j pipe
Walbro 255LPH Fuel Pump
1g BOV

would I need to get a LSD if I just wanna drive around the streets and not abuse it, had the car for over 10yrs garaged up.
also would 550cc injectors be sufficient enough for my goals of 300-350hp?
should I upgrade my radiator to a performance radiator?

Invest in your ecu, ecmlink.
If it were me, replace all the gaskets, since been garage up. Many different options with bolt ons, all dspends what you want to spend. Cams, valve springs, valves, exhaust mani. Bigger fmic but for sure I'd invest into the ecu first

I had 550's on a B16g and injduty was pretty high, so I'd recommend 660's for pump gas. Like Ryan said, you'll need something to tune with also.
No you don't need lsd but you should replace timing belt/water pump and just over the car. Change all fluids and take care of basic maintenance items.
You should hit your target hp goals w evo 16g and a tune.

550cc should easily hit 300whp.. My car still has 450cc on a small 16g and the car is much faster then my 2004 STI that put down 276whp. Also with that 255 pump you need an adjustable fuel pressure regulator.

Good call on afpr @Sjd6795! It will be fine with 550's, but I was low 90% IDC so it wouldn't be a bad idea to just go with 660's since the e16g will flow a little more.

Any data where the % was on those 450cc?
Hitting the target with small injectors doesn’t mean is safe to run.
You don’t want to run injectors 90% continuously, you will be looking for trouble.

I was at 90’s with new 550’s RC and didn’t get all out of the evo3 turbo.

OP, I would go no less then 6,s injectors., They both go for almost the same price so why not play save and go bigger then 550.

Since when does summit sell 16g turbo. Op please elaborate. Adding a bigger turbo without supporting mods is a bad idea. You need a tuning solution

My fault meant to say Extreme PSI's kit not summitracing, I get those two mixed up

I've been reading about ecmlink/dsmlink how it makes ppls dsms come alive, is there an ecmlink LIGHT that I can use for just driving around the city? The ecmlink's asking price is $550.00 on alot of sites my man

Thanks for that suggestion, are there any good companies that have 660cc's under like $200/150? I've seen injector 660cc's go as high as $1000 and I'm just like damn!

As TK’9d2TSi stated before, change your timing belt, with the 16g, you will produce a lot of torque and will easily damage the belt.

Thank you for this dude, how often does the timing belt need to be changed out would you think with just casual driving around on the streets and highways?

Most def bro, will be looking into all of this! Appreciate it

Search the classifieds here. They usually go for around $100ish. Have them cleaned and tested for about $75.

Go to the search and right click.
You’ll get a drop down.
Then select more.

I'll check my logs but no doubt it's high for sure.

If the cost of ECMLink is too much for you then now is not the time to be installing a larger turbo. You absolutely must have a tuning solution before you can install fuel injectors and you should have injectors before you install a turbo. ECMLink is available used and last time I was in the market it they went around $300, but the other cheaper option is a black box ECU and Tactrix cable. It's much less user friendly than ECMLink, but the 98-99 Eclipses came with flashable ECUs and you can just configure those instead. I have one or two laying around my garage.

https://www.extremepsi.com/store/De...nce-Mitsubishi-Eclipse-90-99-and-EVO-8-9.html These are what I have for my EvO3. 950cc flow and $430. You can go as low as $300 for a set of FIC750s but you won't find anything below that without going used. And no one should ever be paying more than $600 for four fuel injectors. I'd very highly recommend going with 650cc at the bare minimum for an E3 16g. I saturated a set of RC550 injectors with a pretty mild street tune. Don't forget that street tunes are usually made safer by running richer, and that requires more fuel.

It's both based on time and mileage. After sitting in a garage for 10 years, yours is overdue for a replacement already. The service interval for the timing belt and timing components are every 60k miles and I forget the time window but I'd guess around 6 years.

You can quote multiple posts together by clicking on the +Quote button for each post and then using Insert Quotes in your reply. It makes things a lot easier to read.

Since it doesn't look like anyone addressed the radiator question, it might be a decent idea to replace the radiator just because the plastic end tanks have a finite life and like to go boom unexpectedly, but the factory radiator can handle a 16g on the street just fine. Mine still has the factory radiator, although that will be changing soon.

Think on the timing belt as the tires of the car. When they are new but seats for many years without moving, they get dry and cracks once they see flexibility, it’s same thing with the timing belt, even if the belt was new when she was running, replace it when it has years without moving.
10 years is a lot, so why risk the engine, be patient and do it right.

On injectorwise, I would recommend to get ECMLink before anything, you don’t have to add anything, just ECMLink and a wideband., you will be making more power with ECMLink and the stock turbo then upgrading the turbo itself,

WIth my current set up just for basic driving around the city would you recommend 660cc fuel injectors on high or low impedence?

Cool just threw on a new timing belt thanks for that

Have alot of wear and tear on that T-25 stock having my dsm for over 10+ yrs, so I pulled the trigger and grabbed the evo16g/install kit from extremepsi, but also plan on getting that ecm/dsm link like you guys keep sayin! :)

Be prepared to have to use boost-by-gear with a solenoid to limit boost in 1st and 2nd gear, definitely up to and including the 3.5k mark and then ramp up the boost to 5.5k by duty cycle. Don't bother using the boost target as you'll end up more rubber-banding than having fun. 64.5% gives me 23psi at 4k and tapers off.. so increase your duty after that.
ECMlink and even a factory BCS will allow you to do this. The IR solenoid may be for better consistency but I haven't noticed the stock BCS being unable to control a 16g.
