So I swapped the intake manifold gasket out, copper sprayed the gasket itself, the egr gasket, and the throttle body gasket. I put everything back together on the car and it will crank but not start for over a second. I left my food floored on the throttle and it still would sputter and die and I have no clue what could’ve gone wrong

This has been long overdue, I picked up the motor out of my last dsm (90 Plymouth laser fwd) with some simple work to the motor, balance shaft delete and arp head studs so I’m in the process of getting it ready to go in the car.

I sometimes have this same problem because of the CAS plug. Whenever I need to do something where I need to remove the CAS plug, it will usually cause the no start.

Check your CAS contacts and make sure they are nice and clean. And you will have to clear the flooded engine before attempting to start again. Pulling the plugs and using a hair dryer works for me.

so I found out a week ago after tearing down the motor before I sell it, the cranks sensor got destroyed by the balance shaft belt. Almost time for my motor to be back from the machine shop, I’ll post more along the way but my setup will consist of fp1 cams, evo valve springs, BC valves, npr 1g pistons (because the ones that were in it were previously chewed up since the previous owner didn’t swap them out after it jumped timing) and a 68hta with a tial 44mm wategate. My clutch I recently bought before the car went down is a act 2600 with a sprung 6 puck will be going into it too. Hopefully it’ll handle the power!

Wait so let me get this straight. You changed the intake gasket on it, then it broke the balance belt broke on the first start, destroying your crankshaft angle sensor? So now you're swapping in a freshly built motor? :hmm:

Yup, I’ve been wanting to run a 6 bolt anyways, the old 7 bolt needs rebuilt pretty bad. It sat for 12 years and I never opened it up after that

Okay so far I have a 6 bolt bored .20 over, stock rods and pistons, bc std exhaust and intake valves, gsc viton valve seals, fp1 cams, fp 68hta v2, tial mvr 44mm wastegate, unknown vband o2 housing dump, wally 255hp and an act 2600 6 puck sprung clutch. Only thing left on my list is arp mains, arp rod bolts, kiggly girdle, injectors and an afpr. So far I’m proud of how far it’s came in a 2 months time
