So I have either found some brand new Evo III parts that someone has or I'm being scammed. I paid for the PayPal fee so its worth a shot I guess right?

I originally just needed and Evo III input shaft but then discovered the guy has Evo III 3rd, 4th, and 5th gears, double synchros shift forks, things like that all brand new.

My question is what all do I need to make the 3rd and 4th gears work? Just the gears and synchros? Can I use stock 2g hubs and sliders and what not?

So far I purchased Evo III input shaft, 3rd,4th,5th gears, 3/4 shift fork, double synchros for each gear, and the intermediate gear for 5th. All parts are cryo treated as well. Is that all I would need to make these parts work? Also are the 3rd and 4th gear ratios even more favorable for drag racing/street driving that the stock 2g ones?

Well you need the matching evo 3 1st gear or else the input shaft is useless. The 3rd/4th gearset needs to be used with an evo 1/2/3 3rd gear subgear (DSM 3rd subgear variations do not work), you will need either an Evo 2/3 3rd/4th hub and slider that fits the double synchros, or have a 90-92.5 3rd/4th hub and slider machined to fit double synchros (hub needs clearancing), then you will either need to use a clearanced Evo 3 3rd/4th shift rail or a 91.6-92.5 shift rail, and then you will need both 5th gears to make it work.

All parts are discontinued (synchros and shift rail still available and 3rd/4th gears are limited, but 1st/input shaft discontinued, 3rd/4th hub and sliders all variations discontinued, 5th gearset discontinued).

I do have a brand new Evo III 1st gear already. And my used one as well thats in the transmission. 2nd gear got shredded and the evo III input shaft thats in the car now is twisted. The transmission is at Shep so I assume they can do the machining needed for it all to work. Are the 90 -92.5 3/4 hub and slider and 91.6-92.5 shift rail still available?

I guess my current thought is if I even can get all of these parts (meaning I assume it's not a scam) are the Evo III 3rd and 4th gear even desirable ratios for a 550whp ar for drag and street?

No they are discontinued as well. You can still get the Evo 3 3rd/4th shift rail, then you have to grind the rail end to clear the 5/R rail end.

I see. I think ill just stick with the stock 3rd and 4th gears. Seems like too much part hunting for those. Ill just stick with the evo III 1st and 5th. Can I use the stronger evo III 3/4 shift fork for the factory 2g gears?

No you cannot, the shift fork, shift rail and 3/4 hub and slider all need to match styles.

Hey while I have you here: I just purchased an ACT 2600 pressure plate to go with my new b series disk I ordered from you because I couldn't buy the SSX pressure plate separately. (I would have bought the kit but at the time I was going to re use my old ssx pressure plate til I noticed it was warped). Should I expect the same pedal pressure and engagement as the SSX pressure plate? I figured they were similar but wanted to know if there were any differences.

The ACT 2600 will likely have a much higher pedal pressure than the SBC SSX pressure plate. The fulcrum position is different so the SBC has a softer pedal feel with a shorter disengagement range, while the ACT has a harder pedal feel and a longer disengagement range. Still, set up the ACT to disengage in the 0-2" from floor position.

Ok thanks. Any idea why we can't get the SSX pressure plate by itself anymore? I wanted another one but didn't need another disk so I just took this route since it was like 300 bucks cheaper than the kit.

Because SBC no longer sells the SSX pressure plate separately. Simple as that. I have to buy an entire kit to get a pressure plate, and I am not shelfing random individual parts to simply sell a pressure plate at a loss.

I see. Thanks for the info. Ill just deal with the ACT 2600 until I need a whole kit again.
