I was scrolling through Facebook and came across a post by Samantha of @MorrisonFab that Curt Brown had passed away today from a hit and run while on his bicycle. I was not close with him and probably only spoke with him once or twice but he was a legend in the DSM community. It's always sad to see people taken too early but this one hits a bit closer to home just by knowing how many of my friends and fellow DSM owners he has been able to help out and how much of an influence has been on this community. The one article I saw posted said that the driver was caught and will be charged.

RIP Curt Brown

This is horrible. His work was the highest of quality. Even more tragic was that he was a great person. And the worst part, our broken justice system will let his killer get away with rehab because he will argue he has a health condition that he needs help with and can't be fully responsible for his drug induced actions.

Wow. What the F*** dude.

read the post. F***in’ piece of sh*t.
DUI, possession of heroine, drug paraphernalia, AND driving with a suspended license.

What a f***ing douchebag. I feel SO bad for the family. That has to be one of the sh*ttiest ways to go out.

Unfortunately I never met him nor did any business with him, but I’ve seen many videos of his bad ass 1g and heard pretty unanimously he could drive like a GOD. R.I.P.

I am at a loss for words. Curt Brown is a damn legend. One of the first names I learned in the dsm community at 19 when I got my first DSM.

And what makes this even more saddening is I talked to him over the phone years ago. Just gives me such a damn weird feeling inside like I somewhat knew him. He even went out of his way to follow up with me weeks later through email. I work in a hospital and witness patients dying all the time. You could say I've somewhat normalized the feeling, but this one has me shook. I wish the best for his family.

So sad news and don’t like to believe that we missed Curt forever since he was really one of coolest guy in the racing community , overall awesome person and his work’s quality was fantastic .
Rest in peace Curt

I just seen this news on fb and popped over. Im shocked this has happened! Its so sad to know you cannot ever go for a nice cycle anymore without someone being stupid in life to ruin it! I really really hope that truck guy pays for this greatly and suffers! Yes im that kind of person!

RIP Curt and respects to your family and friends

A 12 gauge to the back of that low life's skull at close range would be way to easy and not nearly painful enough, imagine being hit head on by a truck when on a bicycle, imagine the fear, the pain that he felt, doing nothing other than riding a bike for exercise and to clear his mind like I often do myself, something that should be taken for granted, and then the waste of sperm takes off because "hey why should I care" I might as well not get in trouble or see if that guy is ok or can be saved. This kind of hits home even because he was not only local, but I had hung out with him some at the shootout when he had his Evo one year and he put a rod through the block and he was actually thinking it was hilarious when he was going to send it back for warranty, not only that but my brother and I were waiting at the bus stop in elementary school when a woman ignored the flashing bus lights when we were boarding the bus, hit my brother and kept going, my mom sat in the car, had to watch her baby get hit, and could do nothing, that piece of trash of a woman actually kept going and never came back after hitting a little kid??? some people need eliminated from society...

Yeah because addiction is a disease, just like rape and incest will be soon, because there is no such thing as personal responsibility anymore, everything is someone else's fault, and we are all victims of something, see where this is going?

Obviously a lot of anger in everyone's initial reaction over the hit and run. I'm hoping we can get some cool stories shared about Curt, examples of what he did for people and how he helped people out. Tell us something you remember about him. I wasn't lucky enough to know him directly outside of a couple quick interactions, otherwise I'd start it off.

I didn’t get to meet Curt either. He did help me with some used valves for dirt cheap. I’m not sure if he left behind a wife and children. If he did, I say we get something rolling for them and truly become a community or even roll out some tshirts in his honor and get them proceeds that way in this difficult time.

RIP brother!!

I'd be game to help with that. @MorrisonFab might be able to chime in and give us some more info about Curt and how we can help. Maybe a GoFundMe?

I remember my first time talking with Curt on the phone. I was buying a part from the ordinal dsm parts trader... dsmparts.com I think. It was a small part too, for what ever reason we spoke on the phone and he was bragging about street racing and beating 900cc motorcycles and I was like whoa, who has a dsm that fast? In time I learned who he was....I totally believed that story then. This was back in 2001 or 02.

Of course was the famous story where his hatch's plexi glass blew off during a pass down Norwalk on the red 9 second FP3065 machine. Lol.

He was a great sales man as well. I've only had the best experiences with him. Proud to say I have one of his heads on my current car.

Sad to hear this news, he will be sorely missed.

Pic is from the 03 SO.

There is actually a video of him smoking a bike in his 1g. I remember watching it way back when I first got started in DSMs. It was 02/03. Back when Kazaa was a thing. Found the video there.

Tomorrow is NOT GUARANTEED, so tell those that stand out in your life that they matter to you now, don't put it off.
I never had the pleasure but when that name was mentioned, I always respected it!
Thanks for all you did in life for and from all of us. Rest in peace CB!
