Since many of us have some extra time on our hands I decided it was time to do something with my suspension. I started by ordering all of the parts I needed. I suddenly realized today that I am still missing 2 parts that I did not know where there prior to removing literally everything except the rear sub frame. I went on just about every parts house website that I could find and found absolutely no evidence that this part even exists. Countless sanity checks (including but not limited to making sure I was not dreaming, holding the part in place to determine if it had suddenly materialized from the realm of random car parts, and of course beating my head against the wall in confusion) and several hours of my life wasted later I am still at a loss.

The part I am looking for is the rear lower forward control arm, NOT the trailing arm or the one with the ball joint. I am unable to find this anywhere and both sides need to be replaced before it goes back together. Any help would be appreciated but one that is reasonably priced would be a huge plus. I have gotten the impression that its kind of a rare part now days and can see companies taking advantage of that.

Have you tried “Miller Import Parts” or “DSM Partout”? One of those guys may have it! Good luck!

Jason99GSX - I would much rather purchase a new part as everything else I have is new as well.

luv2rallye - Since there is no picture in the link you posted and after poking around searching on their site I found no trailing arm I can not be certain that that isn't the trailing arm. These places have a disturbing tendency to mislable parts.

Kyle Jorgensen - I was unable to find this particular part on that website and the link you posted is to the part with the ball joint. I am looking for the part that does not have the ball joint that bolts to the knuckle between the ball joint and the trailing arm.

I really dont understand how you can easily find any suspension component for our cars except that particular one. Did every aftermarket manufacturer just overlook it or something?

Most aftermarket places stopped making parts and ran out long ago (since our cars are 20-30 years old so there's not that many around, so there's hardly any demand for parts anymore, so there's no money in it for them to carry parts). Since factories stopped making parts in over 10 to 20 years ago (accounting for a 10 year buffer after production stopped of 1999 to 1989 models), all places including Mitsubishi dealers are just selling what's left in their inventory. So you have to look a lot - so its very time consuming. Most dealers don't have any but once in a while you'll find one that has one particular part left over (but no other parts). Example: A new part got returned so it now doesn't show up in their database (lazy people often then don't take the time to update the database since that takes time and effort). I've found asking dealers to look all over the country at other dealers often doesn't work. They say there is none (since they only look in a database which sometimes/often is wrong) but I've sometimes found one at a dealer looking myself. {Often talking directly to the parts counter guy on the phone helps. He's then more likely to help you (doesn't want to sound rude or ignore you which he can with an internet request) and will look at his own private undocumented inventory as well as other dealers.} You also have to be careful on internet requests when dealers say they have one. Some dealers say they have it when they really don't but won't tell you (yet you still have to make an order for it). They put it on back order (which is just their way of saying they'll look around the country at other dealers) which they never then find any - but they won't tell you this. So you wait for months never hearing from them (personal experience). Remember it's all about money for them. If there's no (or not enough) money in it for them, they aren't going to put out the effort to help you.

It was pretty bad. Luckily I think the sub-frame is salvageable. Anyone know about the piece that apparently bolts on inside of this to hold the sway bar link? (Scratch that last part. Apparently I was thinking of a similar but different part)
