You should weigh the car once all of the CF is installed, and then compare that to the stock weight. I'm quite curious about it. Good job so far!

I am extremely curious too! Not only all the carbon but the tubular front subframe will be added to this as well. The original plan was to have the turd(red/primer 2g) ready for the 2020 season but thats just not going to happen due to the engine failure and thats going to be $$$$$. That car will be very interesting to see how light I can get it because it will have a full chromoly roll cage and front end vs the black car is mild steel. The last time I weighed my black car I had the 18" wheels and street tires on it and a full interior with all the hvac stuff, it was like 2960 with me in it or something along those lines.

HAWT DAMN! Granted its crooked and only held up with some boxes but it still looks amazing! One night this week ill make the brackets for the quick release pins on the fenders and get this thing fully mounted up.

Nothing much has been going on, took a hiatus from the car for a few months. I finally almost finished up the driver side door window and started on the passenger window frame. All that is left is to make some vertical mounts to strengthen up the window frame. I also picked up a 1g shep trans with the 90 gearset off a buddy of mine!! I think the game plan is to swap cases with a 2g one for the trans mount and then I will make front and rear mounts to the block.

Got the bumper mounted up also!

It was finally warm outside! Worked on the car a little this weekend, finally ditched the autozone hood pins and installed some aerocatch latches also fixed the intercooler mount and had to test fit the bumper. Some day I'll get the engine work done and get this thing going again. All that's left is to make the quick release bumper mount on the driver side and finish the passenger lexan door window and the hard parts done !

Funny how it snowballs. Ever sense 2009 I have had this same dsm. I always tell myself I will be happy with ect ect. I am now to place where local track is forcing me to cage the car and im thinking how did I get here.. Owell if its cage time might as well go bigger.

*HOLY CRAP AN UPDATE*
The new head got sent off to the machine shop today, should be done in 2-3 weeks! Finally getting some warmer weather here in NE Ohio so I've been tackling the crappy part of removing all the dirty, greasy old undercoating off the turd project. I've got 2 wheel wells painted as a test to see if I like the color. The underside I finished cleaning and prepping for paint last night - hopefully I can find the time to prime it tonight. Tell me your opinions on this wheel well/under carriage color (the roll cage will also be this grey color with the interior of the car being black). The car will be black and you'll likely never see the grey unless you're looking for it. If I just do black I think it just looks like undercoating...I'm very indifferent about what to do here! help!

**Its also darker than the pictures make it out to be FYI**

Also, the chromoly showed up last week for the roll cage, one night this week when I can find the time I will be heading over to a friends house to get the main hoop bent and the front lower core support tube.

I wonder if my stock trans will take what yours has.. most people I talk to think I am nuts still on 100% stock 5 speed but you found some magic there.

what is the wieght difference from steel fenders to carbon?
Maybe a pound or two, only reason I got them was because someone wanted to trade freshly painted OEM ones for the carbon ones.

As long as you weld the center diff you might be ok LOL. It's always a gamble

Found some time last night to finish prepping the underside. It is now fully primered and ready for paint! I'm thinking maybe next weekend I can recruit my buddy to come bring his fancy gun and paint for me. Tomorrow I will be dropping the block off for inspection and to get some work done to hopefully repair the deck surface, also getting the main hoop bent. So lets see how far I can get on the cage this weekend! Going full send mode because the weather is FINALLY turning decent here in Ohio!

Welp, when you take two amateur tube benders and try to bend a tube theres bound to be a mess up LOL. Got the first two bends perfect on the main hoop, measured out the next bend and WAMO! We ended the bend where it was supposed to start so the main hoop top section ended up being about 4" too short DANG IT! I've got 54' of chromoly on order to finish off my cage and some for someone else. Round 2 this weekend getting this main hoop bend and a few other stuff tackled.
In other news, my front subframe is done and ready to sadly sit on the shelf until this car is ready

I kinda like the dark nardo ish grey paint for wheel wells and underneath. Kinda drift-car vibe. I'm going with the boring ass black wrinkle undercoating though, because I am boring.

Sitting here waiting patiently for my chromoly to be delivered so I figured I'd be proactive and make the base plates for the main hoop. Got both sides done last night! Still need to clean up and prep for welding but I will hold off on that until the main hoop is in. Placed my order today for my drag wing and brother..this thing is fricken awesome..These pictures were still in its design phase. This was designed and built by a guy whos been a chassis builder/pro mod guy for 50+ years, truly a work of art. When I drop off the tubing to my buddies house I will be picking up the waaang!

Dropped the chromoly off for round two to get a main hoop bent and picked up the waaang last night. The rest of the wing is out getting powdercoated(which is going to be EPIC) I should have everything back by early next week so I can actually get it mounted. Feast your eyes
