I’m in the process of installing the 450 pump to my gsx and was wondering what is the most common way everyone is installing the pumps. I am planning on just using the evo oring and have seen 1-2 older threads on them being better than the stock orings but have they been sealing well? Would it be better to use a screw on bulkhead fitting? I do not have a tank to rail kit so I Believe I would also need a -6an to -6an female 90 degree and a male -6an to male 14x1.5 inverted for the stock rubber feed line correct?

Not sure I follow.... like spyderdrifter said, the 450 should be a drop in deal. Shouldn't need to run any an line unless you are going to run e85 in which case you should have a tank to rail kit to eliminate the stock fuel line altogether and allow for enough flow, I've also seen people boring out the fuel siphon. One thing I know about the 450 is that you're going to want to rewire your pump if you havent already with thicker guage wire to accommodate the higher draw it has, also the wires inside the tank should be replaced

Since your original post, I've been wondering if I can just throw my 450 into the hanger and not have to modify the system. Guess I'll open the box when I get home and see for myself. I'll let you know.

A Walbro 450 is a drop in pump. The base is wider than a 255 and may require some minor bending/trimming at absolute worst case. I did have to step the siphon size and did add a -6 fuel line. Rewiring is a must with that pump.

The problem with the 450/525 pump in a 2G AWD is at higher pressure levels the o-ring setup leaks. You will only see this while logging fuel pressure or will notice your VE being whacked out at higher RPMs(trying to add more fuel but it's just not happening because it's leaking). The correct way to install is to add the bulkhead fitting with a tight radius 90° at the top.

Was the AN fuel line necessary? Unless you run e85 I think you're good with stock lines right? I just rewired, bored siphon tube, replaced the in-tank wires and trimmed the rubber grommet to get the pump to fit. Planning on running pump gas this season untill I pull the motor next year for head studs and other "bigger turbo" preparations

Here are a few pictures from my install.

The o ring inside the tank right?

Yes. The 450/525 only have a barb fitting on top so the o-ring is insufficient. You can try to use two of them or the EVO o-ring and hope for the best, but it's not the right way.

I like what you did there, I'm going to do something similar with mine, I didnt use a 90° fitting for mine yet because i planned on installing the stm tank to rail kit when i eventually go e85, for now the car is only slightly tuned at 20psi and sisnt need the 450 but threw it in anyways because I was swapping gastanks with my awd swap anyways

The -6AN line was done because of E85 yes. Both for size and so I could swap to a PTFE lined fuel feed.

Is there a write up for this install? I was given an unopened 450 pump from a friend and have never used bigger than the 255.

First link he used the o ring method without modifying the hanger. Second link swaps to a bulk head fitting. I personally used two o rings. I know that isn't the preferred method but I just couldn't bring myself to cut up a part that has basically disappeared from existence. The choice is yours.

When I did my install, the only thing I had to modify was cutting the rubber piece on the bottom of the bracket in half. It basically holds the actual fuel pump in place.

Also, no modification is needed for the hanger. So you don't need any bulkhead fitting to run the walbro 450. You DO definitely need the Toyota seal. Ask me how I know =P
I absolutely love that damn seal. Amazing design.
I just updated the thread that ||xkevinx|| posted so hopefully that helps. Also, I took this picture from another thread but this at least let's you see what seal I'm talking about that I used:

I ran a walbro 450 rewired for years without sealing issues. I did it in a not so common way. Recently I went to a walbro 525 and installed a bulkhead fitting as I suspect I just got lucky in the past.

I concur as I had to do the bulkhead mod as well. PS I remember seeing your car at Pocono Raceway years ago!
