I'm fitting a HX-35 to my VR4 with the new engine and have been trying to figure a way for the cross over pipe to fit past the planned twin scroll manifold. I had been thinking moving the radiator and taking the turbo out on the right instead of the left.

The problem is then you have an extra pipe in the front, plus all the extra length. I've been thinking about this for a while, but it only just hit me to see what I could do with a water - air setup. A PWR 6 x 6 barrel is supposed to be good for 570bhp, and I'm aiming for 500whp.

I haven't been able to find much on sizes of heat exchangers, but a there is a 24 x 8 x 2 that will fit nicely where my air - air is at the moment. Anyone know if this will do?

I've already got the battery in the boot and the AFM moved so there is a bit of real estate free above the gear box. I whipped up an artists impression making sure the scale was correct as sort of a dummy fit.

PWR's barrels retail for about $1k (being a petrol head in Aus is expensive) and there is a guy selling a fitted never used one for $500 so I'm tempted. But I don't want to waste money on something that won't work.
Any experienced opinions appreciated.

Here's mine, I spent about 1k on my whole setup, running -16an lines/fittings. I believe my heat exchanger is 26x8x2.
Setup works good, never see intake temps above 120*f even after hotlapping, and it flows like nuts.

I'll add my 2 cents.
on frozenboost.com I picked up the Type 8, thinking 350hp would be a good start.
I ran in circles upgrading my reservoir, bigger lines, thinking there was air in the system, bigger pump....

Last year I upgraded to something similar to the type 5, setup much like Thunderchild, with my HX35.
I have logs on my Instagram @kuttzy from the previous year with similar boost levels going from 95*C to 36*C with the larger core.
Don't undersize your core whatever you do.

After more digging to see what's available, I've come up with this piece of overkill

It can be speced with 90s at both ends which makes it almost the perfect length, i.e. about an inch behind the radiator fan to pretty much a straight shot at the throttle. It's $1k but Plazmaman is a 15 minute drive from my place so I can go there to 'test fit' without having to buy and hope I'm right.
