Long story short, I dropped a valve and it killed one of my pistons. Salvaging the build I want to reuse as much as possible. I ordered a new mahle piston to replace the one that died. The new piston has a thicker wrist pin 22mm I believe. The old one looks to be 21mm. So my rods accept a 21 currently. Would I be able to get the wrist pin section of the rod bored out to use this new piston? Trying to not get 1,000s into getting it going again. Please reply if you have machine experience or have dealt with this yourself.

The 22mm pin is 7 bolt spec, 21mm is 6 bolt. Should be able to get a replacement piston with a 21mm pin.
You can bore the small end of the rods to accept the 22mm pin, that's what you do to use the old OE 2g pistons on 6 bolt rods combo. I'm no machinist but using one pin that's heavier than the rest sounds like it's gonna cause some balancing issues.

Something is not clear but assuming that you have Manley rods and Mahle pistons and replacing only one piston. I recommend to return the piston you got and get a correct one with 21mm pin.
To use your 21mm small end Manley rod with a 22mm pin Mahle piston, I think there is not enough material to just machine the bushing to 22mm. So you would need to bore the small end and put a new 22mm diameter bushing. But I don't think that would be worth to do that.

Don't mix different weight pistons. Try to replace it with an exact unit. Only in DIRE situations would I mix and comingle. As a kid I probably would have thrown any old piston in and I have seen some weird stuff inside motors. I don't plan on being the one that does that as it will cause some balance issues so you might as well get the RIGHT piston as the guys already said. :thumb:
