I'm not sure if this is the correct place for this kind of post (first red flag I know) so I'll get right into it. I'm a tall guy with pretty long legs and find it more comfortable to lean back and pull the seat away from the pedals. Unfortunately this leaves me barely able to reach the wheel even when I tilt it down. I was wondering if anyone here could point me in the direction of a product that comes with extended harnesses that can move the steering wheel a good 4 - 6 inches closer to me while keeping the factory wheel as I dont want to toss my airbag. Thank you in advance for any information.

You're probably gonna have to get something custom built for that. I've never seen anything like that on the market, but that doesn't mean it's not there. Also doesn't mean it is. Custom is probably gonna be your quickest solution though.

Any idea what the shafts thread pitch and diameter are? I have searched off and on for a couple weeks now so I suppose custom will be the only way to go.

Thank you. Though I know how that works I never was good at doing it myself. I'm guessing I'll need a shaft to extend that one drilled and tapped on one end to thread onto the steering column with a bolt thread on the other. The actual extension piece will also need to mesh with the notches not only on the clock spring but the steering wheel as well as wiring up a couple harnesses for the airbag, horn, and cruise control wand. Is there anything else I'm missing about that mechanism that needs to be considered? I'm surprised that after all these years nobody has made a product like this yet.

Sorry, for the delay, I forgot what post I said I'd take measurements on. But, the splined section has 31 splines. Here are the measurements for the steering shaft at the widest section, and at the splines. You'll probably need both. Battery was dead, so manual measurements.

However, I did think of an idea. Since the end of the shaft that the wheel slides on is removable, is held in place by a snap ring and rides on bearings, you could always remove that portion and have another one machined to the same specs, only longer. I think it would be easier in the long run versus having an extra piece bolted on.

I guess I could be wrong about the end coming out. I pulled the snap ring off, a washer, and a bushing, and it looks like it might just be there to keep the bearings in place.
