So I took the 92 Talon to the track and had fun but ran into a problem that I need a second (3rd, 4th, 5th) opinion on.
I am running 4 springs in my TIAL WG, as much as you can stuff in it. The car runs a steady 33 lbs (pretty solid anyway), but when I activate my EBC, even at 100%, I can't get the car to boost anymore. I am shooting for 40's. I even took the EBC out and put a simple tee in the line and put a .30 orifice (welding tip) in the end of the open line and nothing, still just 33#'s.
Do any of you have any ideas on what may be going on. One son said maybe I have the diaphragm pinched when we put it together, as anyone who has tried probably ran into the same problem....its a Biatch to put the 2 halves together when it has 4 spring's trying to not let you but we succeeded and I thought it was doing great until I went to up the boost and it won't move above my 33 lbs.
Any ideas??? :idontknow:
Thanks 'yall!
Marty

Flex section or not, Marty, if that wastegate stuff you're chasing doesn't fix your problems I'd start looking under the car for a smashed section (speed bumps?) of exhaust that could restrict flow. You said you've got a cut out? What's that neck down to and where's it located, etc.

We've dropped the dp on a car and did a pull off of the o2 housing and it fixed the limited boost that the guy could run. It's a quick check and it doesn't cost any money.

Im trying to boost leak test my car. I have a stock td05 on it. So I put the tester on the the turbo and start filling with air.. I can only get about 10psi before the wastegate acuater opens... I wanna fill with 15psi but i can't get past 10.. any ideas?
Yea, go start your own thread.

Generally if only using lower port on wastegate you can only go about 2x spring pressure, And if it has high exhaust back pressure it may bee less. I run a EBC, 44mm tial mvs, 16psi single spring, boost reference to top of gate and EBS to lower port. Can easily push it to 40psi+, When plumed this way you can go 3x the spring normally. For example on my old diesel truck with wild set up. I saw 90-95psi at motor. This was with external gate off manifold plumed this way with as much spring as I could put in the gate, it controlled boost perfectly even with bout 115psi of exhaust back pressure.

I have tried lower port, both ports, upper port and now NO port so I will have to look. I am under the car all the time since I have a lift and there is absolutely no necked down exhaust. The 3" DP goes right to a 3" dump that has no flapper (I found it under the car, so its in the back floor board). I don't mind trying anything, that running without a DP will be a hot blast on the components up front tho. Unfortunately, my dump is welded to the DP or I would, and still might, hack it off. Hell is loud as shit anyway......ROFL
Thank you guys!!!!

Now watch, I'm gonna get a "me and my fancy lift" comment.........:p

This is my setup....other than a vband at the turbo exit.

The only other thing I could think of that might be limiting your boost to 33psi is excessive valve overlap (cam timing if you have adjustable cam gears). The turbo operates on eMAP preturbo to generate boost pressure. If you've got excessive valve overlap the pre-turbo back pressure could be flowing through the open exhaust valves and into the intake air stream which I could see limiting iMAP too.

Not even sure that's possible on a DSM to get that much overlap but one more thing to look at if you have adjustable cam gears I guess. :idontknow:

And I do, so I will jot that down too Corey. Any and all things that could be possible, I am going back over. :thumb:

Not sure if this has been resolved switching to the other Tial 44 but, if it still reacted the same you may invest in an eMAP logging setup. I paid about $250 to log eMAP on my car utilizing the EGR port. Maybe you've got so much it's just blowing the wastegate flapper opening if you're eMAP is checked out.

If you're interested in logging eMAP here's how I did it.
Install's fairly straight forward and if you can weld you could easily make that eMAP canister and save some money. I just tapped the EGR port for 1/8NPT and used a brake hardline kit to flare and bend the line.

You are a wealth of knowledge, thanks Corey! My son hasn't got me his 44 yet as he has been busy but I sure want to try another unit to either solve the problem or check it off as nope, not that. His 7 bolt build has me on hold on my car.....that's just an excuse I guess. I need a couple clones of me, LOL.
If my stimulus check would come in, I would just get a hyper gate and a Zex NOS system for my pitiful 60' times and put that BIG smile on my face!

Helping me spend money, Like I need help ROFL
I am running a .82 hotside. Justin told me that one of his customers didn't see much difference in the .70 and the .82. before he went MIA. The BullsEye Power housing was giving me all kinds of issues. I think I broke 3 shafts with that thing.

Me too man. I've never had a problem with my turbo having any back pressure because they have been opened up with a dump. I can still split the morrison down pipe down low and check that off. I have no boost source going to the gate currently so it should be obvious I would think.
Imma boost junkie and need my fix ROFL
Its really more for the end of a run if I need more boost, I can demand it in my situation. Just what I want in my car plus some kind of dam control over what alot of people would already die to have. :)
