Hello fellow dsm fans,/owners,/masochists, 
. I included that last bit as I have owned my vr4 since 98 and ownerkmow any owner of a stealth TT or br4 will understand that last identifier
And for 15 of those years I loved driving the car, but infrequently to hack flipped 100 k on the odo. And it began having oearm start issues ending in a dead car issue . With a wife and son!
So against my better knowledge I took it certified mechanic that was highly referred and thought I fully vetted...NOT.
I GOT $2,K WORTH OF PARTS MD labor for $4k. Eg charged for MSD 8.5 mm plug wires and for shop made 7mm wires, found my original coil pack too and packs charged for new, and perhaps most egregious $750 for a rsman ECU! I could have bought a jester, chrome fully adjustable one for that price! And had my ECU refurbished as weii...for $175. Pretty much the 120k mi service...but didn't get 10xblocks away from the shop and the car stalled! Had it towed to the same shop. Nest day they telle the vibration dampener has soun 3" out from the seat and almostamgledost of the engine up. Recall 120k service included timing belt replace! So 4k later and two weeks heme I pull into my garage cl cnd hear some random ticking in engine comparemt. Blackout garage and find a coil arching electricity to the rstistor hose. 6 months later I messG

Ellow 3s owner who commemted to another's thread that he lived close ... In my same City. I message him. Get each other's numbers. And two texts into the process he offers his 18 years of experience modding the platform! And be knows his stuff BUT most extraordinary, when K give him, my address, he proceeded to ask details about my car that are likely uniwuectocmy car specifically the chrome 3 spoke Antera Opus 1 wheels. Come the find out he was 1,year when his family setup residence until 2015!!!! He knew my car from childhood! And graciously offered to do nearly the install hardware to do,a complete stage 2 upgrade,!!?
Until this point he's had little from me,than a little cash. But he assured the parts are all necessary to get my cat pushing 500 hp!
