I have a 97 gst with the infinity sound system. Is it possible to put my 300w pioneer amp in the factory spot using the existing wires? To power my kicker 6x9 or is it to much power for the factory amp wires.

You could always give it a try. The worst that will happen is it wont sound right. I think most people will say to just run new wires. It's not all that hard to run new speaker wire to the rear speakers. I fought with the door speakers for a few hours trying to run 14ga wire to them.

I am more worried about using the power wire from the factory amp and not having to run a new wire to my battery

Yeah, I don't think that the wires will be sufficient enough to push an aftermarket amp. Any time that you install an aftermarket amp(s), you are going to want to run new wire to the battery. Even my little 100w amp that I use for my tweeters has thicker gauge wires built onto for the power/ground/remote than what the factory amp wiring is.

Unless you get a really thin amp it will not fit! I tried to put mine there and it was going to hit the rails, so I ended up placing back on the floor shelf behind the rear seats then running the wires under the carpet and along the sides. Its the best way to do it if your amp is abit bigger then stock

Resurrecting an old thread but is there any chance you could post a picture of your amp location? I've ran into the same issue. My amp is too tall and hits the bottom of the passenger seat. I really dont want to move it to the trunk.
Thanks
