Hi guys,

I have a 95 Talon AWD M/T that was converted to a GSX by the previous owner. He also did an AC delete.

I'm trying to get the car up and running but keeping finding more and more of the car's wiring hacked up with crappy splices or wires just twisted together and electrical taped. I think most of the AC connectors were just hacked off so there are a lot of loose wires around the engine bay.

Anyways I'd like to replace the engine and chassis wiring harnesses completely instead of dealing with this wiring mess. I'm just trying to figure out what year/model harnesses I can use. This is my first turbo eclipse (had a 420a for 10+ years) so I'm not very familiar with all the wiring and connectors.

Are the Talon AWD and GSX harness pretty much the same if it's the same model years?

I think the main thing I'm looking for on the engine side is to stick with 96-96 M/T? The car does have ABS if that makes a difference.

A bunch of the wiring in the center console is hacked as well, so I think it's best to replace the chassis harness also. Are those year/model specific as well?

Thank you so much.

Iirc year for year should be the same as long as the trim level is the same too. So an AWD gsx manual trans harness should be the same for an AWD talon manual harness.

Someone else may have more knowledge on it than myself.

Year for year they are the same, I believe someone is selling a 95-96 harness on one of the Facebook groups at this time.

95/96 MT GSX are the same, but 97+ are different.
They both have to be ABS as well, so keep in mind that.

Beware, the eclipse and talon harness are not the same, so don’t get an eclipse harness and spect to plug and play, You need to do some modifications and use different sensors and some areas, so stick with the talon harness.

Thanks guys

If I stick with 95-96 are there differences with between the AWD and FWD harnesses?

Any idea what's different?

Talon have a different system on the turn signals/intermittent then the eclipse.
Talons have intermitents and signal in their own sensor, which eclipse has both in the same sensor.

The rear plate lights have a different plug between talon and eclipse, so saying all what I just stated before, you can’t add a eclipse rear harness in a talon front harness, it will plug but the rear lights won’t work correctly.

On talons and eclipse between GST and AWD won’t work which all GSX has different connectors for the fuel tank

Just done get me wrong, I’m talking about the complete harness in general. BUT, you do can use a talon engine harness in a eclipse, it can be from a GST. GSX, or TSI, obviously if they all MT.

I have own eclipse al my life, and now I own 2 talons, a 95 and a 97. I know both harness (talon and eclipse).

I have some spare 2GA harnesses if you're in need of getting them quick.

No difference between FWD and AWD for those harnesses.

Thanks! Not in a super big rush but it sounds like tracking down the right one can be a pain. Which harnesses do you have available?

Thanks for clarifying. The last owner hacked up the rear chassis harness for the eclipse tail and reverse lights (with electrical tape). I was thinking about replacing that one. Also thinking about replacing the other chassis harness with the fuel pump since I was having fuel issues as well and some stuff in the center console is spliced... :(

If I were you, I would stick with the same harness and fix every single wire.

If you are not familiarly with the harness, ask questions and post pics of what you need to know and we help out on every si glue wire.

if you have had no problems with short circuits, draining battery and stuff like that, I would even refresh the harness.

If I would have the time, I would remove the harness and put a new wire loom, tape it and fix/solder every wire is Brocken or brittle, this way I will know for sure it will hold for quite some time. , Plus, it gives you the knowledge of your car how it works or what you have done to it.

I think the chassis harness are probably fixable.

My main concern with the engine harness is there's a couple sections where it looks like a plug was hacked off leaving bare wires exposed. I'm assuming most of it is from the A/C and EGR delete. But there's a lot of random wiring and disconnected sockets around the engine bay as well.

My guess is that he hacked it up to make it work for the 2GB conversion. I would just fix what he did and make it look nice and tight rather than replace.

Is there just one harness for the entire engine bay? Or is there a sub-harness or something?

Is only one engine harness, one body harness which is for the headlight, SRS sensors etc etc.

The once that came with ABS system has an extra harness that attaches to it, it runs in the passenger side inner fender, but that’s IF is ABS equipped.

Thanks. Car currently has ABS equipped. I'm thinking about deleting it at some point though.

Are the non-abs engine harnesses the same as the ABS harnesses? There's just an unused plug coming off of them? My abs unit is in the front driver's side of the engine bay.

Is the fuse box and other stuff along the passenger side of the bay a separate harness from the main engine harness then?

Non abs and abs models came with the same engine harness.
The abs model came with the same body harness but it has some extra wiring for the abs, so saying that you can plug and play any abs with a non abs harness.

Fuse box, and ngine harness and all the rest is the same.

Just remember, we are talking about Talon harness not eclipse. But the engine harness itself is interchangeable from eclipse to talons, there is very minimal detail to do but is almost nothing.

Ah ic. Thanks again.

What issues will I run into if I get an eclipse GST/GSX MT engine harness for my Talon?
