G'day, can someone please explain the reasoning behind removing the emissions control.

cleaner engine bay less clutter more air to circulate . only problem check engine light will come on .

For the evap cause someone got a code for it and it's easier to vent it elsewhere and have the purge solenoid able to pull vacuum.

For the EGR it's another place where exhaust can potentially leak and when you start doing higher boost having things sealed is very nice to have, also it's less to deal with. On top of all that it makes the intake extremely dirty.

From what I know these are the key reasons.

it's kind of like taking the rocks out of your pockets before you go swimming. Extra crap, more to fail, serves no useful purpose, & you don't need it. It's forced for when your motors worn out & should be replaced or rebuilt not when its running good. How much power can you make on a crappy running motor?

Such a great analogy haha, I dig it.

After 22 years the entire inside of my intake manifold was coated in nasty black crap. An hour of cleaning later and it's fine. And I deleted the EGR so it will never happen again.

Without EGR an engine can run much cleaner and much longer.

Cleaner engine bay, Less lines to cause boost leaks, if you are in a state that doesn't do emissions testing and if you have ecm link or something similar you can remove it all and shut off the car from checking on those. Will not throw engine light then.
