General 1G CAS with 2G crank sensor

Hi, I have a Mitsubishi Chariot, similar to a 95-96 2G dsm.

It has the cam sensor on the intake cam and the crank sensor on the crank. I've installed HKS cam gears that don't have a provision for the cam sensor.

I have a 1G CAS I'm going to install and have a link G4+ ECU so can invert the CAS signal. I've read the info from RRE in regards to rewiring.

2 Questions:

1/ What exactly does the ECU use each signal for? I.e does it use the cam signal for ignition and crank for fuel?? Why does it need both signals?

2/ Can I keep the existing crank sensor and just wire up the 1G CAS? or do I have to use the 1G cas for both cam and crank signals? Seems a bit odd that I could use seperate sensors as the 1G CAS is adjustable and the crank sensor isn't.

Crank sensor is for spark.
Cam sensor is for fuel. Typically.

The 1g case just "assumes" crank angle with the two different reluctors or sections of the trigger wheel.

Not sure if the 1g totally eliminates the stock crank sensor.
Another option is to get a later 2g style cam sensor that goes on the same end the 1g CAS does. You may have to drill/tap the cam end for that style.

I would imagine there are two signals from the 1g CAS, one for cam, one for crank, but idk the wiring off the top of my head.

Not sure if its relevant to helping you or not but if you run a 6 bolt bottom end like I assume, you can buy Kiggly crank trigger swap kit. I run that on ecmlink with the signal inverted and a magnus 6 bolt swap conversion harness. They are wired to get the signals separately and it works great!
 
You can use the 1g sensor for both cam and crank signals if you like and just leave the stock crank sensor unplugged, or you can use just the cam sensor output from the 1g sensor, I run the 1g black top on my 2g using Link G4+ and have for several years now.
