By set pin are you talking about the alignment pin?

Nothing happens, it's only there to help line the housing and center section up. That way all of your coolant, oil lines, intercooler tubing, and wastegate line up if you are running a stock location one.

I think you’re right since the camp will do it’s job
 
You will be fine. The exhaust side, too, as long as if you are keeping a good angle for oil drain. I was using MHI turbos without the set pin on the exhaust side for some clearance/angle issue. I had no issues for many years.

Good to know since I have one of these turbos. I think I was considering clocking the compressor as well. :hellyeah:

Tom I ended up clocking the turbine housing. Not possible clocking the compressor side because of the dowel. Just keep the drain angle in mind like Hiroshi said. :thumb:

And make sure you remove the dowel pin and keep an eye out for it when you separate it. Mine was tiny
