I've been doing a bit of work on the car lately. I installed a Kiggly 2-tooth crank sensor, OEM crank sprocket, ARP crank bolt and a custom water pump pulley. The pulley is slightly larger than stock and is offset to account for a lack of power-steering pulley. It's a very nice piece. The Kiggly piece has improved my startups making them smoother, although I haven't put a lot miles on it to determine any other advantages..

A lot of small changes came to the car. Where to start. I wound up installing a Radium fuel pressure damper between the fuel pump and fuel rail. I've had a weird VE issue around 3-4k where the car goes really lean. Check the pics. My guy Kjewer couldn't figure it out and didn't want to give the ve table unrealistic values to satisfy the wideband factor. I was looking on Radium's website and this damper was said to help with that EXACT issue. However, upon install it hasn't done much to help.

Hey mate, maybe this is a typo, but the damper goes between the fuel rail and the FPR, not between the pump and rail.

That water pump pulley is awesome. Solid build you've got going here, looking forward to seeing where it goes.

Hmm, wouldn’t that be the same thing unless you’re saying the fpr should be feeding the rail?

Nope! Your FPR and injectors are the main source of the "pulsing" in your fuel rail, which is what that unit is designed to damp. If the damper is on the other side of the rail, it's not really damping the pulses until after they've gone through the rail.

Thanks I’ll have to look into that. I followed the install of another build so maybe we’re both wrong :)

You know what, the instructions on Radium's website say to mount it in the feed line, so you have it right I guess. We always mounted these right on the rail between the rail and FPR and had great success curing idle and low speed driveability issues on Evo X's with stock ecus and 2150's.

EDIT: E-mailed Radium, they said you could put it either place. You might try moving it around.

That makes me feel a little better.

Are you currently running the 1650cc Hi Z Injectors? If so, pump gas or e85? And do you have any leaning out issues?
When KJewer tunes the car, it was hi-z 1650s, e85 and stock fuel rail and lines. I had a weird VE issue from like 3-4k that just wanted so much more fuel than he felt was necessary. Kevin has the log if you're interested or I can send it to you. I'm currently on magnus fuel rail, 6an feed and hi-z 2150s.

So I am assuming you're not getting these VE issues now?

Do you know what the fix was for the lean condition?

That's a good question. I installed the Radium fuel pressure damper with the stock rail and I THOUGHT it helped a little. By help I mean going from a WBFactor of like 14% to 8% or so. I then redid a lot of the engine bay and switched to the Magnus fuel rail for aesthetics while also switching to the 2150s. I'm still not certain on the current status because of a lot of different changes. As soon as the rainy days stop I'm going to get a clean log and send it to Kevin and will report back. I basically got tired of messing with the tune and just said f*** it. That's why I don't have a clear answer as of this moment.

I don't know. I'm not certain if it's fixed or not til this day. I was tired of doing the remote tuning back and forth so I just gave up and decided to fight it another day.

You have the full log file for this run?

Also, what's your base fuel pressure?

I have some ideas, but need the log and your base fuel pressure.

Pfff, you wish you could get your hands on my secret logs so you could sell them and retire early ;) JK, I'll attach it..
Base fuel pressure should be 43.5psi. However, my autometer sensor read 48 while the mechanical read 43.5. I used the mechanical number.

I plan to give them to a 420A owner I'm currently helping. Your car is set up similar enough.

Hey Vegas, I know you're running the Magnus rail and was wondering if you had to use aftermarket spacers for them. I checked with extremepsi and was told they don't come with the metal spacers and you are supposed to use the factory ones. But I see in your pic you're not running the factory ones. Did you have to special order those? And do you know if the factory ones will work?

They absolutely should come with spacers from Magnus. They are much longer than stock and I would not expect the rail to fit with stock spacers. i actually bought my Magnus rail from Extremepsi in November so they must be confused and must not realize that spacers are bolts are in the box.
