Testing shows it is the float that is inoperative. My sending unit is in great shape though. Is there any way to fix the float? Will the FWD float work in the AWD unit? They seem impossible to find.

I tested between the two pins on the connector at the top, meter showed OL. I tested from the corresponding pins up top of the hanger and down under it and had perfect continuity. I then testeted from the float connector pins to where the wires are soldered on the resistor and had perfect continuity. I then did an overall test from the soldered joints to the corresponding pins on the top of the hanger with perfect continuity. Despite all that I still have no continuity reading at all between the two wires and pins for the float. That only leaves the resistor in the float.

Can you take apart the sender? Post a pic if you can. I've repaired my sender which wasn't reading full when I'd fill up. The 1g's are pretty straight forward.

Are you moving the float when you’re checking resistance?

When I pulled apart the float assembly, I found the tab that is supposed to ride along the potentiometer broken off. I can take a pic later when I get home from work. Fortunately I found someone here who sold me a whole unit for a fair price, but I would like to salvage this one just in case.

Glad you figured it out and found a replacement :thumb:
